Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from the above purposes include a) Enhanced educational attainment, greater social awareness and the advancement of young people as active and responsible citizens b) Increased social engagement amongst young people from different social, religious or cultural backgrounds and the
advancement of conflict resolution, reconciliation, equality and diversity c) The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability and financial hardship, through affordable and accessible opportunities d) Increased levels of community participation by young people from polarised or socially isolated areas e) Increased levels of physical and mental wellbeing amongst local young people, through appropriate training, recreation, support and guidance f) Increased skills and confidence levels that enhance employability, team-work and personal motivation. This includes the progression of young people to leadership and active citizenship roles through accredited and non-accredited courses These benefits can be demonstrated by various means that include a) the completion of project-related workbooks b) oral and written feedback from stakeholders and independent evaluators c) public/statutory reports that identify positive community impact on social and educational matters that relate to young people. An example of this was a final report produced by the Education and Training Inspectorate in 2013 into the delivery and benefit of our Sharing In Education Programme. The benefit will be regularly reviewed through project evaluations, member’s surveys and strategic planning. Charitable benefits will be highlighted in organisational literature and annual reports. The purposes of our charity may result in personal injuries to beneficiaries during activities and travel, but this can be minimised by the hiring of appropriately qualified centres, instructors and transport companies. The charity’s primary beneficiaries are young people from diverse and disadvantaged communities in the North-West region of Northern Ireland and this includes referrals from social services due to family circumstances or from schools due to academic disengagement. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is the development of volunteers and committee members through internal and external training and this is incidental and necessary to ensure efficient and effective management and supervision of the primary beneficiaries. Staff will also be private beneficiaries through salaries and work-related training. REACH Across carry out its purposes without distinction of sex, race, disability, political, age, sexual orientation, religious or other opinion.
