Public benefits

The benefit which flows from this purpose includes the provision of training, support, information, facilities and through the dissemination of grants for groups to allow them to build capacity, develop and to reach out to their communities, build essential links. The public benefit is enhanced knowledge and understanding through receiving

information and building essential skills, resources and experience to lead to community development. The benefits are demonstrated through results achieved, advancement of knowledge, regular feedback and evaluation. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for all, the benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes improvement in health & welfare, enhancement in the conditions of life for inhabitants (mental & physical). This is demonstrated through access to resources, equipment which would not be available, events will ensure links with the local community, to provide care through links achieved. The purpose will not lead to harm. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes the identification of needs within an area and to ensure that those especially communities at a social/economic disadvantage participate fully in society. This is achieved through the mentoring which SACN provide in capacity building, provision of training, support, information, facilities to enhance capacity building and to ensure that the needs of those at disadvantage are met. Promotion of good community relations, religious, racial harmony. The benefit which flows from this is the 200 SACN members, all of which are from diverse backgrounds develop together through tackling and facing common issues, goals and resolving these together. To promote a sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes the identification of needs within an area and to ensure that those especially communities at a social/economic disadvantage achieve growth and regeneration of their area. To promote good community relations, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity. The benefit which flows from this is the 200 SACN members, all of which are from diverse backgrounds develop together through tackling and facing common community issues, goals and resolving these together. To promote co-operation and partnership working between and voluntary groups, public and statutory agencies and bodies and private sector organisations to help achieve these objects. The benefit which flows from this is the 200 SACN members, coming to work together in collaborations and learning from each other as they face similar issues and problems which need addressed. To promote such other charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined. This is demonstrated through SACN having the flexibility and capability to face any arising charitable purposes and address these for the good of the community.

What your organisation does

South Antrim Community Network, based in Randalstown provides local community development support and a tailored advice service to groups and organisations throughout Northern Ireland. Our large membership base benefit from the assistance, support, training, networking and collaboration opportunities we provide on a continual basis. Members

include community and voluntary organisations, village groups, social economy enterprises, small rural businesses, from rural and urban locations, there are currently 200 members, membership is free. South Antrim Community Network exist to equip community groups with the tools and knowledge they need, offering training in areas such as Child Protection and Risk Assessments, assistance with Charity Commission Registration, Good Governance details, and advice regarding the Roles and Responsibilities of your group, as well as PR and Media training which will ensure your group will be heard. Other areas of assistance include: - Village development planning. - Improved village services. - Social Enterprise start-up advice. - Access to funding. - Partnership Development. - Access to Government Officials, Councils and others bodies. South Antrim Community Network work in the Community for the Community. Over the last 12 years we have delivered over 500 training and community events, continually developing initiatives to increase community involvement to progress on the ground projects. As a result over 13,500 people are being empowered within a structure of community support that exists solely to meet their individual and collective needs. In the past 8 years we have levered over £2 million of investment to local communities. Within this time we have provided many new programmes and services including: - Mental health and suicide prevention - Health and well-being - Maximising Access in Rural Areas (MARA) - Physical Activity

Charitable purposes

The purpose of South Antrim Community Network is the advancement of community development in Northern Ireland (the "area of benefit") and in particular the promotion of the community and voluntary sector for the benefit of the public by providing services, training, support, information, facilities and the administration of grants to community and voluntary groups and encouraging and assisting such groups and organisations to co-operate to achieve their aims. To promote health and wellbeing for the benefit of the public in partnership with health care authorities and care providers and local communities by advancing education and awareness around local issues of good health (both mental and physical) and adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyles and by assisting in the reduction of health inequalities. To develop the capacity and skills of residents of communities in the area of benefit that suffer social and economic disadvantage, in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and participate more fully in society. To provide and maintain a forum where member organisations can join together to find mutual support, exchange views, share common issues and information, create a collective voice for the community and voluntary sector and work in partnership with statutory agencies and authorities. To promote sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration. To promote good community relations, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity. To promote co-operation and partnership working between community and voluntary groups public and statutory agencies and bodies and private sector organisations to help achieve these Objects. To promote such other charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined.
