Public benefits

Purpose 1 The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include that people in the North West will have opportunities to learn about Japanese culture and integrate with them. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from our events, and posts by people to our Facebook page. This purpose may lead to competition with other minority

cultures however such situations are prevented through our positive relationships with other groups and the benefit outweighs the possibility of harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people who want to learn Japanese culture in the North West area and members of the Japanese community in the same area who wish to share their culture and to learn more about other cultures. Benefit to committee members may be receiving training on good governance, finance etc. in order to run this group in an appropriate and efficient manner. Through this training committee members gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose 2 The direct benefits which result from this purpose are the appreciation of other ethnic cultures within local communities, the nurture of respect and trust among people, regardless of differences in racial background. These will be some of the best methods of preventing racist and hate crimes and they will contribute to effectively promoting a safer community. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants of events which this group organizes, posts by people to our Facebook page and statistical information by PSNI on hate crime. This purpose does not lead to harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are members of ethnic minority communities and general members of local communities, as nurturing the attitude of appreciation of other ethnic cultures and promoting respect and trust among people beyond differences in racial background are quite important in preventing racism and hate crimes and building a safer community. A private benefit to committee members may arise by receiving training on preventing hate crimes, facilitation skill etc. Through this training committee members gain skills and experience, which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
