Public benefits

Springfield Community Development works to improve the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Springfield. SCD provide, maintain and equip premises and facilities for the inhabitants of Springfield to benefit from and enjoy improved conditions of life. SCD works to benefit the inhabitants of Springfield. SCD provide facilities for the use of

the inhabitants and assist a wide spectrum of people, from young people, unemployed people, disabled people and the elderly. As a result of providing and maintaining these premises we help the charitable organisations operating from our premises extend their activities and ensure maximum benefit and improvement to the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Springfield. In considering the benefits flowing from SCD's management and promotion of its premises and facilities for charitable purposes the use of the properties as a Day Centre and Advice Centre and for Volunteer Programme's and Triage Project acts to encourage the community to develop friendships and relationships and for community members to equip themselves with the necessary skills to improve their conditions of life. This in turn enables the creation of a friendly community atmosphere with better skilled inhabitants and provides for a better future for the community. As a direct result of the input of SCD, the benefits to the community and beneficiaries gained will include gaining a greater sense of belonging to the community, improved confidence, awareness, well being and health. The social, cultural and educational life for all will become inclusive and enhanced. The benefits will be demonstrated through feedback from the local community and voluntary sector. There is no harm or possibility of harm arising from any of the purposes. The beneficiaries of this purpose are all inhabitants of Springfield. Benefits to people who are not the intended beneficiaries are incidental.

What your organisation does

Springfield Charitable Development aims to improve the quality of life for those living in the district of Springfield. It has purchased premises, several of which were derelict and developed these properties into useful facilities which will improve the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Springfield. SCD provide and maintain premises in

the Springfield area. We enable and permit these premises to be used by charitable organisations (on favourable terms) for the following: An Advice Centre, two Second Hand Retail Outlets, a Day Centre and Triage. The Advice Centre provides food bank vouchers and a volunteer programme which works with the unemployed, the low employed (zero hours), ex-offenders, providing training opportunities and action learning through work placements. The Day Centre and Triage Project provides much needed facilities and services for vulnerable older people. As a result of providing and maintaining these premises we help the charitable organisations operating from our premises extend their activities and ensure maximum benefit and improvement to the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Springfield. We provide financial support to Springfield Charitable Association to assist it running it's Advice Centre, Volunteer Programme, Day Centre and Triage Project. We have recently purchased a derelict building in Cupar Street and hope to regenerate it into a state of the art Older People’s Day Centre.
