Public benefits

The purpose of Dromore Education & Community Partnership is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the inhabitants of Dromore, County Tyrone by: (a) providing facilities for schools, voluntary and community organisations and members of the public for sporting and physical activity; The direct benefits

flowing from this purpose include an enhanced physical education programme of activities for all the school age children in Dromore. These benefits can be demonstrated by examining the level of usage which the Dromore Sports Complex has on a week by week basis. We are available for use by the local schools 5 days per week until 4.00pm which allows them to offer physical activity to their students in adequate facilities in any weather. Furthermore the facility is open every evening until 10pm offering a variety of classes for all abilities to enjoy physical activity at their convenience. (b) encouraging participation in sports and recreation by members of all communities; The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include almost all ages of community members enjoying the benefits of physical activity which is offered through our timetable of classes. We offer quality classes which can promote health and wellbeing to all levels of fitness within the community. This means that enhanced facilities are on offer locally and within a budget that can be afforded by all. These benefits can be demonstrated by our range of activities which are on offer continuously for all ages. We have a Staying Active club for over 60’s weekly which allows members of the community to socialise as well as take part in regular exercise. We are utilised by all sections of the community and we can see this daily in the people using our facility for social and physical activities. (c) promoting the development of physical activities, sporting events and competitions; The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include being able to add to our community by offering a safe place to exercise and socialise. Our community has benefited by having a top class facility which is locate in their community. Community spirit is very active and positive in Dromore and we feel we add to this daily. These benefits can be demonstrated by the amount of use the complex has from within the Community. This includes numerous groups utilising us for fundraising activities and keeping all the activities within the community is a bonus. We have been utilised heavily in recent years during the Ulster Fleadh and they have benefited from having a facility like ours located in the community. (d) encouraging greater structured and informal participation in physical activity and sports by children, young people and adults. The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include allowing children and young people in the community a safe place to exercise and a meeting place where they can feel secure. Our ethos is to get people moving and to get them enjoying this. Yearly we offer a very cost effective Summer Scheme which is centred around physical activity. This is a huge success year on year with parents expressing gratitude that such a programme of events is held on their doorstep. Again this adds to the positive community spirit in Dromore. These benefits can be demonstrated by the full range of programmes and activities we offer quarterly, from underage fundamentals, gymnastics, soccer, tag rugby, netball, summer schemes, Halloween activities, Christmas lantern walks etc.. People in the community now expect that we will have structured activities for their young people and eagerly await announcements quarterly. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are all residents of Dromore, County Tyrone and the surrounding areas primarily however we are open to the public. There are no private benefits flowing from the purpose.

What your organisation does

The key outcomes of the Dromore Sports Complex are:- 1. Improved physical education and sport in the Dromore area. 3. Better opportunities to increase levels of activity in the area. 4. Improved collaboration, co-operation and partnership with all sections of the community 5. Promotion of social inclusion. 6. Innovation and best practice in the

management of facilities. In general the Complex works towards: • Improve the general health and well being of the community of Dromore. • Address the social deprivation that has been identified within the area. • Address the considerable problem of lack of provision for our Youth. • Help to tackle social problems within the town. • Develop a facility in which the community have an involvement and in which they can take pride and have a shared responsibility for. • Improve relationships and communication between the school and its local community; • Provide a secure and safe environment known to the local community in which they can exercise. • The Complex has created employment in the area as the business employs: Centre Manager Assistance Manager Duty Supervisors – 3 Self employed sports coaches

Charitable purposes

The object of the Company shall be the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the inhabitants of Dromore, County Tyrone and its environs (the "area of benefit") by: (a) providing facilities for schools, voluntary and community organisations and members of the public for sporting and physical activity; (b) encouraging participation in sports and recreation by members of all communities. (c) promoting the development of physical activities, sporting events and competitions; (d) encouraging greater structured and informal participation in physical activity and sports by children, young people and adults.
