Public benefits

Purpose To provide a quality basketball experience for players, coaches, volunteers and wider community across Northern Ireland. Public Benefit Statement The direct benefits, which flow from this purpose are the increase in the health and wellbeing of the charity's beneficiaries, such as increased participation in physical activity,

encouragement of a healthy lifestyle and impacts on positive mental health. As well as this the charity will benefit the personal development of it's members by instilling the core values of the charity, including but not exclusive to, sportsmanship, integrity, transparency, accountability, fairness and equality among players. These benefits are supported by external research that indicates the health benefits of participation in physical activity, and team sport in particular. An example of this research is cited in the 'Making Life Better' strategy published by the Public Health Agency. The charity uses its relevant forums to collate information to support the desired benefits, through one to one conversations, feedback forms and information provided by governing bodies, such as Basketball Ireland and Sport Northern Ireland. The charities beneficiaries include a cross section of the Northern Ireland society, with a particular focus on children and young people. Beneficiaries also include: •Children & Young People •Older People •Parents •Females •Volunteers (on court & off court) •Ethnic Minorities There is no harm or private benefit from our purpose.

Charitable purposes

The Charity's objects ('the Objects') are the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for playing the game of basketball and the teaching of life enhancing values including sportsmanship, integrity, transparency, accountability, fairness and equality among players.
