Public benefits
Our beneficiaries are pupils of Our Lady’s Grammar School, Newry. The direct benefit which flows from the advancement of education is that educational knowledge and attainment of young people in both academic achievement and vocational aspiration will be improved. The provision of additional equipment and facilities, financial assistance,
awards and grants will provide opportunities for the pupils to reach their full potential. The pupils will be able to learn and grow as more rounded individuals as they will have the benefit of improved equipment and facilities. The past pupils of the school, as members of the charity, are able to give something back to the school as the past pupils will become involved in activities to further the current pupils education, such as demonstrating the wide range of careers available to them, eg, we recently participated in school events such as “Women in Careers”. This is an information sharing event showcasing a wide range of career options that former pupils have embarked on. The event is to assist pupils who are choosing A Level subjects. These benefits are demonstrated in our annual report and feedback from Our Lady’s Grammar School students and staff. The direct benefit which flows from the relief of the needs of pupils is that by relieving their financial hardship at home, pupils are able to concentrate on their studies. This is demonstrated through the Comfort Fund we have established to help in emergency situations where the Pastoral VP has identified those that help. There is no private benefit and there is no perceived harm, only good, that will come from our work.
