The Forum is established 1. To relieve poverty, sickness and the aged and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Redburn and Loughview and environ By associating the statutory authorities, voluntary Organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education. To provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation
or other leisure- time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. What, benefit flows from this purpose? The direct benefit which flows from this purpose… 1. To reduce social exclusion through programmes and activities. In the area, for example we have a shared community led and maintained garden. For all local residents to avail of. The produce from the gardens is used in one of the forum’s cooking projects with the youth to provide for those in need within the community. 2. To increase information, knowledge and employability within the local area. We do this by offering training such as, Gardening, Food Hygiene and First Aid, Essential skills, Numeracy and Basic It skills. 3. To be a safe, tolerant, welcoming community. The forum hold regular quarterly interagency meetings and in regular contact with Statutory and Public Agencies. This allows the forum to raise local concerns and develop a responsive community. These benefits are evidenced through… 1. Increased numbers of residents participating giving regular feedback to the forum. Evaluations are completed for all programmes using various Qualitative and Quantitative methods, such as one to one, focus groups, Questionnaires. 2. Increased skills and qualifications gained. 3. Regular estate inspections and feedback from the local community and statutory bodies such as the local police. None of the purpose listed give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries are those living within the area of benefit. A private benefit to trustees may arise through the personal development of skills and experiences, which may be useful in another setting. For example a trustee may act in a key holder capacity and attend various events and activities. The trustees hold regular meetings to democratically decide who attends various forum events. Without the trustees the organisation would not be able to operate.

Our aim is to work with the local community and other key stakeholders to improve the quality of life for the people of Redburn and Loughview. Redburn Loughview Community Forum was established in 1991 as umbrella group to bring together and coordinate local community groups to affect positive change and promote social inclusion in the most
vulnerable areas of Holywood. Redburn Loughview Community Forum gives a voice to local people to be heard at a strategic and decision- making level and works to improve the quality of life for all its residents. In partnership with many of its stakeholders, Redburn Loughview Community Forum is committed to maintaining and pursuing a safe, stable, tolerant and shared neighbourhood where individuality is respected and diversity celebrated, in an inclusive manner. Redburn Loughview Community Forum works to build the capacity of its residents and members to promote an engaged and sustainable community who actively participate and act as key partners in identifying, prioritising and addressing social needs and in reducing inequalities. By doing so we our aim within Redburn Loughview is to tackle and support residents who have been disadvantaged through social exclusion. Helping to empower the local community to meet their own identified needs, through developing a joined up, strategic, sustainable community development, approach to the work. Which include signposting and access to advice with statutory bodies. Personal development, learning life skills such as Basic it, English. We offer further life skills that can develop self-esteem and confidence and to meet other residence in the local area.
