Public benefits
Purpose (I) – as stated in clause 2 of our governing document: The direct benefit is a safe and neutral facility for residents of the area of benefit to use for meetings or training courses with various educational or government bodies; and, a more informed society and healthier community lifestyle, providing a better standard of living conditions
and environment. These benefits are evidenced by word of mouth from attendees and feedback after using the facilities from the organisational bodies. The purpose does not lead to any harm. The benefits are for all inhabitants of the Kircubbin area and its environs of Ballygarvin, Glastry, Inishargy and Balligan. A private benefit is that a trustee or family member may use the facilities in the same manner as all other residents. This is purely incidental and necessary, so that the benefits are available to all. Purpose II - as stated in clause 2 of our governing document: The direct benefit is a united community which has come together as one to achieve its targets. Further benefit is a more vibrant and inclusive society via the educational programmes and recreational activities. These benefits are evidenced through the diverse set up within the PCG and through feedback generated from the activities organised by the Group. The purpose does not lead to any harm. The benefits are for all inhabitants of the Kircubbin area and its environs of Ballygarvin, Glastry, Inishargy and Balligan. Private benefits are purely incidental and necessary as family members of all can avail of any opportunities arising.

Peninsula Cultural Group is a community based voluntary-led organisation and provides a good range of services and activities for our community in an isolated rural area. Activities provide social interaction and learning opportunities for all sections of the community and of all ages. We provide facilities for social, recreational and educational
activity, including community capacity programmes and spin classes. We give the local community the opportunity to learn new skills and improve existing skills. We meet identifed community needs through community development initiatives. All programmes are delivered through the principle of equality in an effort to advance education and to preserve the environment and heritage within the area. We deliver cultural programmes. Our objective is to improve the overall well being of our local community and to provide a fun learning experience and build strong community relations.

Charitable purposes
The purposes of the charity are: The relief of need and the advancement of education of the inhabitants of the Kircubbin area and its environs in Ballygarvin, Glastry, Inishargy and Balligan (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit") without distinction of age, sex, race, disability, political, religious or other opinion. It will so do by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of the social welfare, education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; To advance knowledge and appreciation of the Ulster-Scots language and culture and to encourage understanding and acceptance of all indigenous cultures to the area of benefit.
