Public benefits

(A) Purposes To provide a shared space that accommodates and facilitates education and learning for the members of our local community that feel socially isolated, who suffer from mental health issues and those who are in need of better overall health and wellbeing, B) Public Benefit The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is lifestyle,

health and wellbeing improvement of the local community for all inhabitants regardless of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion. This benefit is evidenced through feedback from beneficiaries, government statistics or annual reports. We believe that this purpose will lead to no clearly identified harm but we are aware of the dangers of unqualified teaching staff and out-of-date learning materials and presentation of such. Strict checks and controls over staff and their qualifications; and research into their teaching materials shall be implemented. The charity’s beneficiaries are those who are eligible to receive the registered members, including our staff and volunteers, and indirectly, their friends and families and their environs. There may be private benefits from the provision of training and support, but these benefits would be incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. 2. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are: improved standard of living of those with mental and physical health conditions; and reduced isolation for people of age 18+. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from beneficiaries, government statistics, increased numbers of people using services. We believe that this purpose will lead to no clearly identified harm. These benefits are for young people, families living in poverty, those with mental and physical health conditions and isolated people – all living within the area of benefit. There may be private benefits from the provision of training and support, but these benefits would be incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. 3. The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is the ongoing provision of a community space for programmes and activities for all inhabitants from the area of benefit. This benefit is evidenced through: feedback from beneficiaries, statistics on the range of activities and interest groups using the centre. In maintaining and managing the Life Works NI centre there is potential harm to be aware of through failure to meet health and safety requirements, or failure to meet insurance and risk assessment requirements. However the Association will ensure the benefit outweighs any harm through proper management of the Life Works NI centre. The beneficiaries of this benefit are people living in the local area of benefit (ie. members and volunteers of Life works NI and their environs). A private benefit may arise through the use of the centre by beneficiaries for private use by therapists and other professionals (eg. workshop/ class room rental) as a result of hiring the centres room for such. These benefits are incidental and do not deter from the wider public benefit of this purpose and indeed add to it through increased awareness of the centre and funds to pay rent of the building.

What your organisation does

Life Works NI offers a venue for our community to come together in a supportive and nurturing environment as we facilitate free classes, workshops, support groups and counselling sessions to help them learn, live and grow. Our goal is to provide a helping hand on the way to a healthier happier community targeting areas of social isolation, mental

health and wellbeing, chronic illness and suicide prevention. We provide advice, support and self-help resources from our own venue and throughout the local community for anyone seeking personal empowerment and better well being - all from within a safe and inclusive environment. We will value and encourage our users’ contribution in every aspect of how our venue is run and what services we will provide, working closely with them as they take control of their own wellbeing.
