Public benefits
We provide a direct service to children with disabilities, their siblings, parents and other family members. This social group occurs once per month, and is open to any family where there is at least one child with a disability. We promote positive social experiences and informal support for the children and their families. Our group offers
opportunities for socialising, development of friendships and time for families to communicate in a fun environment. We hope that parents can spend some individual quality time with each of their children whether this be through playing together, chatting or simply having fun together. We want each and every one of the children to feel important and valued. We want to build self esteem through encouragement and celebrating achievements no matter how big or small. We endeavour for the whole family to use this space to make new friends and share information and support on informal basis through all our difficult journeys. This is demonstrated through continually through increasing numbers of families registering with the group; feedback through our Facebook page; direct comments to committee members and the opportunity to give feedback being provided through a comments book which is available at each group to all group members. There is to our knowledge no harm. There is no private benefit.

We meet once per month on a Saturday afternoon in local church premises. This group was set up by four mums who all have a child with disabilities. This is not a formal group but a social opportunity which we feel is greatly needed. In order to achieve it's aim the group has raised money, opened a bank account and organised activities and events.
We provide a variety of activities, such as music therapy, arts and crafts, dance, cookery, signing to music, baby sensory, as well as refreshments and space for parents and children. Parents/Guardians remain with their child/ren throughout the whole event. They hold full responsibility for all their child/ren's needs. There are no supervisory staff at any of these events. Ten regular volunteers assist with preparation of refreshments and with some activities. We currently have 40 families registered with us.
