Public benefits
We feel that all the purposes within our governing document provide a public benefit. a) By encouraging participation in, and enjoyment of, association football we are providing them with the opportunity to socially engage outside of school/college and take part in sport. Through playing team sport in a safe environment we improve life skills
such as confidence, integration with other children, inspiration and motivate inhabitants to continue to play sports as they grow older. There is no harm which flows from this purpose. b) To develop the skills of all participating players and volunteers; through taking part in physical activity, delivered by qualified volunteers, which include the practice of fundamental movements (catching, kicking, running, jumping, hand eye co-ordination and balance) we are improving the physical literacy of young inhabitants. Our volunteers also develop their own skills through communications, organising and co-ordinating sessions of various age groups. These skills for both young participants and volunteers can be transferred into other aspects of their life, be it academically or socially. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. c) To develop lifestyle issues and the fitness of all participating players; through engendering an ethos of respect, teamwork, equality and opportunities for all throughout our sessions Hillsborough Boys FC improve the outlook and perceptions of children and young people to grow up open minded. Through providing physical activity through sport, our activities improve the general physical health of children and young people. Some measurable benefits of this will be an improvement in aerobic capacity and helping with weight loss. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. d) To provide a positive, safe and competitive environment to play 11-a-side football; through providing our members over 11 with an environment to play 11 a side football, we are providing a public benefit by promoting amateur sport within Hillsborough. This benefits young males and females as the grow into men and woman, helping their physical and psychological development. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. e) To provide as and when required, in conjunction with the NIBFA and local leagues, educational courses covering player protection, football development, drug awareness, dietary requirements, first aid or any other relevant education for all participating players and officials; through this purpose, we are educating children and young people around key societal issues, in partnership with the governing body for Association football. This provides a benefit through improving knowledge, understanding and consequences around issues such as drug and alcohol abuse. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. f) To promote sportsmanship and fair play in young footballers, officials and parents, irrespective of gender, race, religion or social status; this purpose ensures an open door policy, where children and young people, as well as volunteers from various religions, ethnicities are welcome to become involved within our charity. This provides public benefit through improving cross community relationships and community cohesions within Hillsborough and surrounding communities in Lisburn. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. There is no harm flowing from the above purposes. There is no private benefit flowing from the above purposes.
