Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from purpose (i) include improved education and increased quality of life of participants as well as increasing participation of ethnic minority members of our communities in civic life. These benefits can be demonstrated by the levels of participation in all activities provided as well as the feedback received from

activities. The beneficiaries are directly the ethnic minority women living in Co Fermanagh and Northern Ireland; indirectly they include the families of these women who will benefit from improved education and increased quality of life. The direct benefits which flow from purpose (ii) include improved education around ethnic and cultural diversity to the wider community in Northern Ireland so that there is better understanding around ethnic and cultural diversity. The education of the wider Northern Irish community on this issue will permit a more tolerant and inclusive society. These benefits can be demonstrated by the number of activities that have been held, the feedback that has been provided and through the continuing requests for services to be provided. The improvement of community relations also demonstrates the benefits of advancing education in ethnic and cultural diversity. The beneficiaries are the wider Northern Ireland community that participate in activities we arrange. The direct benefits which flow from purpose (iii) include an improved, supported and integrated community that strives to ensure understanding, inclusiveness, participation, integration, fairness and well-being between all people within Co. Fermanagh and Northern Ireland. These benefits can be demonstrated by increased participation and integration and a better awareness of social cohesion. It will also be demonstrated by an improvement from the wider community in their recognition of ethnic minorities and their cultural identity so that a fair and integrated society endures. The beneficiaries are minority communities living in Northern Ireland. The direct benefits which flow from purpose (iv) include increased awareness of ethnic / cultural diversity issues that face individuals and communities in Northern Ireland, which will support programmes to further improve these issues and lead to a more inclusive society. These benefits can be demonstrated by the improved awareness of ethnic / cultural issues witnessed by the feedback provided by groups and individuals that have utilised our activities to develop awareness surrounding ethnic / cultural diversity issues within Northern Ireland. The beneficiaries are individuals and members of communities with Co Fermanagh and Northern Ireland who will gain a greater understanding and awareness of ethnic / cultural diversity issues and increased confidence to engage with and accept those from a different ethnic / cultural background. The direct benefits which flow from purpose (v) include improved social welfare of minority ethnic women in Co Fermanagh and Northern Ireland who have an opportunity to access recreational and leisure activities that will improve their health and well-being. This provides an opportunity for the wider family to learn about local pastimes and leisure activities and support community integration. These benefits can be demonstrated by improved social welfare and active participation in local recreational activities and pastimes. The beneficiaries are minority ethnic women and their families in Co Fermanagh and Northern Ireland.

What your organisation does

Women of the World (WoW) carry out the purpose of the organisation in a number of ways. We visit schools and community groups delivering workshops on citizenship, cultural diversity and anti-racism; we organise and participate in Family Fun days which involve stories from around the world, costume workshops, music and dance, food, arts and crafts

and other fun ways to engage all ages to learn about different cultures. Our motto is “Learning through Sharing”.

Charitable purposes

The objects of the Association shall be to: (i) advance education primarily amongst minority ethnic women by organising and/or delivering educational and training courses, seminars and educational visits in the interests of improving their quality of life and enabling them to take an active role in decision making processes and civic life; (ii) advance education in ethnic and cultural diversity; (iii) support, assist and promote for the benefit of minority people, communities in County Fermanagh and the public generally, the highest ethical principles of social harmony, health and social development, social, cultural and cross cultural understanding, inclusiveness, participation and integration, fairness and collective well-being so as to create and develop enlightened understanding, respect social cohesion and integration; (iv) research, create and develop awareness of ethnic/cultural diversity issues within and amongst communities in Northern Ireland; (v) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life primarily for minority ethnic women.
