Charitable purposes
The objects of the Company shall be:
(a) To advance the education of the public and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life of the inhabitants of East Belfast and its environs (the ‘area of benefit’), without distinctions of sex or political, religious or other opinions; and in particular but not so as to limit the generality of the foregoing:-
(i) To provide amenities and facilities for the benefit of the public resident in the area of benefit as are not provided from public funds;
(ii) To arrange and promote lectures, demonstrations and competitions and to form classes of instruction so as to bring about a widespread and thorough knowledge of the principles which underlie the art of swimming and to promote and encourage the teaching of swimming and life saving in schools, colleges, and other educational establishments
(iii) To advance education through the provision of training in the skills of life saving and resuscitation and such other skills as would be of assistance to a person endeavouring to save life
(iv) To provide relief for persons suffering from mental and/or physical disability or impairment through the provision of therapy within a swimming pool environment
(b) To preserve for the benefit of the public and local and wider community and of the nation, the historical, architectural and constructional heritage that exists in or around the buildings comprising Templemore Public Baths and Complex, Templemore Avenue, Belfast including any structure or erection and any part of a building so defined (being premises of particular historical architectural or constructional interest.
