Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from our purpose include: (i) opportunities for all children to participate in new learning experiences and to engage in play based learning through stimulating, age-appropriate resources and activities. (ii) opportunities for children to socialise with peers in preparation for the formal stage of schooling. (iii)
opportunities for parents or carers to become involved in the activities of the playgroup and opportunities for parents or carers to become active members of the wider community through involvement in the playgroup. The charity’s beneficiaries are pre-school children under statutory school age (but older than 2 years and 10 months) living in the Castleroe area of the Coleraine Borough. The charity’s beneficiaries also include parents or carers of these pre-school children. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from the Eti Inspectorate reports and the annual inspection from the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. These benefits are also demonstrated by the demand for the continuation of the service provided in this local area seen through places being filled on an annual basis. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. No harm arises from our purposes.
