Public benefits
The Charity's beneficiaries are the members of the Society, Visitors and General Public. Our organisation meets the public benefit requirement by studying and encouraging public interest in the history, folklore, archaeology and antiquities of the region. The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is the knowledge gained by the members,
visitors and the general public of the heritage of the area around Rathfriland and further afield and this is demonstrated from feedback from members. A private benefit would be provided to bus companies that we hire a bus from. The Owners of properties that we visit if they charge an admission fee. The owners of restaurants that we dine in when we go to any function or outing as this is incidental and unavoidable because we could not have an outing without them. There is no harm.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
Our organisation meets monthly to listen to speakers who talk about matters of historical interest. The members/visitors also enjoy annual outings to places of interest and we communicate with other historical societies.
