Public benefits
Purpose 1: the advancement of education and protection of health among older people The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include people learning new skills and continued good health. This benefit is evidenced by members having health checks in the club as part of our programme and reporting improved well-being, through blood pressure
checks, for example. We do not anticipate any harm leading from the purposes of our charity. The benefit is for older people in the Omagh area. There is no private benefit other than the beneficiaries gaining knowledge and the skills to improve their quality of life. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose 2: provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for older people The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include giving local older people a safe environment to socialise, make new friends and take part in an active ageing programme, thus improving their quality of life. These benefits are evidenced by the attendance of the beneficiaries at the club and feedback from them in our local church hall on a regular basis. The beneficiaries are consulted about the planned programme and are actively involved. The beneficiaries enjoy the social interaction. We do not anticipate any harm leading from the purposes of our charity. The benefit is for older people in the Omagh area. Purpose 3: raise awareness among the general public of the needs and experiences of older people in the area of benefit The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include informing local people of the needs of older people and relating their stories, encouraging people to be more aware of the older neighbours or people in the local community. This is evidenced by the support from the general public when we are organising an event or fundraising. It encourages new members to come along. We do not anticipate any harm leading from the purposes of our charity. The benefit is for older people in the Omagh area. ... [more] [less]What your organisation does
Our organisation meets monthly and provides a safe environment for local older people to come along and enjoy friendship and fellowship. We also provide transport to and from the venue along with a 3 course nutritional meal. We attend meetings and information sessions about services available for local older people and work closely with South
West Age Partnership, the local older people's network. We provide information through various organisations that attend out monthly meetings. We seek grant aid and fundraise to run outings, provide specialised equipment and activities.
