The direct benefits which flow from these purposes include improved financial outcomes to users (unemployed, lone parents, those with a disability, carers, older people, in work low income families, pensioners) through entitlement to social security benefits; reduced levels of stress and anxiety thus helping to improve physical health and mental
health related problems through referrals to doctors, social workers, housing etc; ensuring that those that are most vulnerable have local access to services that educate and can help solve issues affecting them through our advice services which provides information, advice, support and representation to people concerning their options, rights and responsibilities; increased employability status through advice upon in work benefits, training schemes, further education courses and opportunities of volunteering. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from regular users and yearly independent evaluation of our services by Derry City and Strabane District Council under Quality Assessment Awards, and within Western Health and Social Care Trust and DSD on quarterly reporting and progress reports; daily phone contact and feed back with users and quarterly progress reports to DSD. No harm is arising from providing these services, only individual benefit to users across all sections of this community. The beneficiaries of this purpose are people living in Derry City and Strabane District council area, and the greater Western Health and Social Care Trust area, patients and carers who currently are receiving treatment for cancer; and who have sought help across a range of issues that have a direct bearing on their daily lives, as well as family members and carers and those who are diagnosed with illness. There is a benefit to GCDG as an organisation, as it provides us with opportunities in the recruitment of our volunteer base, and the employment of GCDG staff, this benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. GCDG Trustees/ management committee completed committee roles and responsibilities good governance training through NICVA; and a fully aware of ensuring that all that we provide is of a public benefit.
