Public benefits

Public funding raised by our Charity is sent directly to two Trusts in India. 1. Dalpart. Destitute and Leprosy Patients Rehabilitation Trust 2. Anbu Illam Society - Home away from Home. DALPART Trust has three main projects. 1. Upkeep of six leper colonies housing 233 people. 2. A school for the children of those affected 3. A Home for the

destitute and Eldery. Anbu Illam Trust Home away from Home This project provides accommodation, schooling and Technical Training for abandoned children, Rag Pickers, child labourers and children who may have been in trouble with the law. Here they are given a warm home, shown love and sympathy and encouraged with their education and Technical skills in order to give them a new start in life. There is no doubt that public donations have changed the lives of these marginalised people. Those who benefit from Our Charity are all from really economically deprived backgrounds. Our target groups live well below the poverty line. Children from these families are very likely to drop out of school to find work in order to supplement the family income. They are paid very low wages as they are unskilled and uneducated. We target these groups offering them schooling and training and to demonstrate their success they receive government certification. In turn they are able to look for work which offers them better wages. They are a great support to their respective families who are now able to improve their standard of living. Past students still continue to visit Our Anbu Illam and are a great source of inspiration for other children. Those who have done well have actually contributed some of their salary towards the education of others. Surely these is a great demonstration of their success. These families often have an elderly mother or father living with them and if finances are really bad these old people are often literally left on the roadside. Our home for the destitute and elderly does a great service for these abandoned people. We give them a warm bed and the respect deserved to end their lives in comfort and love. It is physically visible to see the relief of these people when they are taken under out care. Schools are often reluctant to enroll children of Leprosy patients but our Don Bosco school makes no discrimination. I have been to visit them and have never experienced happier children in any classroom. It is so apparent that they are happy to be there! Skills and education are a driving force for the economic growth and social development of any country. Our Charity has visibly helped to impart education and training to marginalized Youth on the brink of Society. I believe that all this demonstrates how "We Care" has visibly helped in the social transformation of these people. I can categorically state that there has never been or will be any private benefit or potential harm from the objectives of our charity.

What your organisation does

"We Care" have a thrift shop at 45 Springfield Road. Here we sell good quality second-hand clothing, small items of furniture, bric-a-brac etc. Any articles not sold are sent for re-cycling - there is nothing wasted. The Thrift Shop is an important source of income while giving a service back to the community who have supported us for over thirty

years. We make application to the P.S.N.I. each year for permits to collect in towns all over Northern Ireland. Returns have to be made for every collection. Other fundraising events consist of Church Door Collections, Coffee mornings, sponsorships etc. We have our Charity boxes placed in different outlets in and around Belfast. We also rely greatly on voluntary donations. We host a Golf tournament every year at Fortwilliam Golf Club
