Public Benefit Purpose: To advance education, to relieve the suffering of men who are/or have suffered from anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and other related eating disorders and illnesses, support and educate their families to advance education and relieve sickness with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said
beneficiaries. Benefit: The benefit that flows from this purpose is to educate men about eating disorders; the impact it has on their health; and help them become proactive in seeking the right care and support to relieve their suffering. Inform carers about eating disorders, its impact; the mental health issues related to eating disorders and the stress a sufferer lives with on a daily basis; the purpose is also to inform both sufferers and carers of available support links to Healthcare Trusts; support groups and GP practice contacts. GPs, therapists and healthcare providers will benefit from our firsthand experience of male eating disorders, the impact it has on sufferers and their family; and gain knowledge of the disorder to further enhance the care they provide to sufferers. How we demonstrate this: By using the charity website to provide information and link users to local GP practices circulation of leaflets; advertising posters in GP practices; leisure centres; health centres; billboard advertisement ; advertisement in Local magazines; circulation of crisis cards showing links to support organisations ie Lifeline; the Laurence trust website; Samaritans; eating disorder association NI and StampED Antrim. Online anon feedback from men visiting the website and social media what they want and need ie what is working/not working, and share links to the Laurence trust website. Workshops for healthcare providers and carers, to provide training; participation in Eating Disorder conferences in NI and UK mainland to raise awareness and educate of the suffering and impact of male eating disorders. Use Feedback forms from healthfairs to evaluate the knowledge people have regarding eating disorders; use the feedback to develop education campaigns to develop the right information. Use radio and television to inform about eating disorders. There is no harm coming out of the purposes of our charity Our charity is to benefit eating disorder sufferers, their families, carers and friends; GPs and healthcare providers ie therapists; psychiatrists, support group volunteers and the general public at large throughout Northern Ireland.
