Public benefits

BANGOR CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH PROVIDES BENEFIT TO ITS MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC BY MAKING KNOWN THE CHRISTIAN GOSPEL OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST THROUGH OUR PURPOSE OF THE ADVANCEMENT OF RELIGION. IN DOING SO WE BELIEVE THAT WE PROMOTE CHRISTIAN VALUES AND SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY FOR THE BENEFIT OF INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE. THE

TEACHINGS OF THE BIBLE ARE PRESENTED IN ORDER TO REACH PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH AS WELL AS BUILDING UP AND NURTURING THOSE WHO PROFESS IT, THROUGH THE PREACHING AND TEACHING OF THE WORD OF GOD. THE BENEFITS WHICH FLOW FROM THESE DIFFERENT SERVICES ARE DEMONSTRATED THROUGH THE FEEDBACK AND APPRECIATIVE COMMENTS FROM MANY OF THOSE WHO ATTEND AND GAIN HELP AND ENCOURAGEMENT. APPRECIATION IS ALSO EXPRESSED BY PARENTS FROM OUTSIDE OF THE CHURCH, WHO’S CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS COME TO THE YOUTH ACTIVITIES AND WHO HAVE BENEFITED FROM THE CHRISTIAN ETHOS AND MORAL GUIDANCE WHICH THEY HAVE RECEIVED. ALL OF WHAT WE DO WE BELIEVE THAT NO HARM CAN COME FROM THE PURPOSE OF THE CHARITY. THE ONLY PRIVATE BENEFIT FLOWING FROM OUR PURPOSE IS RELATED TO THE OFFICE OF MINISTER, WHO RECEIVES FINANCIAL BENEFITS WHICH ARE NECESSARY AND INCIDENTAL TO THE CARRYING OUT OF DUTIES AS A RESULT OF HIS POSITION. ALL OF OUR ACTIVITIES ARE OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND ARE ADVERTISED IN THE LOCAL PAPER. OUR BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE OUR MEMBERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH WE LIVE AND WORK.

Charitable purposes

The Church universal, which is invisible, consists of the whole number of the elect that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one body under Christ, the Head thereof and is the Spouse, the Body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all. We believe the local Church is that body of people have confessed Jesus as the Son of God and have believed and trusted in Him as their Saviour and Lord. The Lord Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and as such by His Holy Spirit, has authority over the whole Church to direct and inspire it in all the activities, outreach and worship.
