Public benefits

The purposes (aims) are as follows: Purpose Number 1 – To restore, regenerate, maintain and manage the Memorial Hall for the purpose of improving the wellbeing for the inhabitants of Ballinderry. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes the refurbishment of the existing hall giving people a meeting place to get together with

others to enjoy social interaction and to take part in activities of a social, health and recreational nature. The participants learn new skills and share their own knowledge and skills with each other. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants and beneficiaries and by the level of uptake/enthusiasm for our activities. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the Ballinderry area of Lisburn City Council. There will be no private benefit to trustees from this purpose. Purpose Number 2 – To get local people of all ages involved in the use of the hall. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes encouraging people to become active in a voluntary capacity, organise groups if required and maximise the use of our facilities and activities to make life better for themselves and their neighbours. These benefits are demonstrated through the number of groups/people using our facilities and feedback which they give us and by the level of uptake of our activities. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the Ballinderry area of Lisburn City Council. There will be no private benefit to trustees from this purpose. Purpose Number 3 – To identify the individual and collective needs of the area. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes the gathering of information and research to inform the work of the committee. These benefits will be demonstrated through the successful refurbishment of the hall and the ongoing development of our hall and the activities carried out there. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the Ballinderry area of Lisburn City Council. There will be no private benefit to trustees from this purpose. Purpose Number 4 – To improve facilities by liaising with statutory bodies, voluntary organisations in an effort to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation, or other, leisure-time occupation, with the objective of improving the conditions of life. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes working in partnership with other agencies and groups to develop facilities and activities to improve the social, health, emotional wellbeing and recreational lives of local people. These benefits are demonstrated through the number and background of the people using our facilities and from feedback from these persons. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the Ballinderry area of Lisburn City Council. There will be no private benefit to trustees from this purpose. Purpose Number 5 – To increase awareness of needs and promote avenues of change for the benefit of the community of Ballinderry. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes informing the wider community about the social needs in the area and encouraging the community to participate in addressing those needs. These benefits will be demonstrated through the successful refurbishment of the hall and the ongoing development of our hall and the activities carried out there. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the Ballinderry area of Lisburn City Council. There will be no private benefit to trustees.

What your organisation does

The Ballinderry War Memorial Hall is a Grade B1 listed building which is of historical significance in the area. The Committee’s focus is two-fold: 1. To plan and seek finance for the restoration, refurbishment and modernisation of the Ballinderry War Memorial Hall for the use and enjoyment of the community of Ballinderry. When completed, this

will provide a modern community facility and will greatly enhance the facilities and opportunities that the Committee will be able to make available to persons living in the Ballinderry area. 2. At present the Committee seek to provide a range of activities and recreational events to meet the needs of persons living in the Ballinderry area and encourage local people to become active/involved in a voluntary capacity. The Ballinderry War Memorial Hall Committee organise events and activities which are open to all members of the community. Events are advertised on the Committee’s facebook page, in the local shops, and in the local press. Examples of such events are children’s parties, historical/educational open days, summer barbeque, dance/disco events and charity funding raising events such as coffee mornings.

Charitable purposes

The Management Committee is established to manage the Ballinderry Memorial Hall for the purpose of addressing social disadvantage and inclusion by making available facilities to the community of Ballinderry without distinction of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, political, religion or any other opinion, with the aim of improving quality of life for such inhabitants. The Management Committee is committed to the promotion of equal opportunities for all including, staff and volunteers within the organisation and to deal fairly and equitably with members and affiliated groups. To restore, regenerate, maintain and manage the Memorial Hall for the purpose of improving the wellbeing for the inhabitants of Ballinderry.
