Public benefits

The Trustees believe that the purpose satisfies both elements of the Public Benefit requirement purpose one. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include raising awareness of age appropriate play based learning among parents and carers and the provision of Early education for children under statutory school age in Meigh and its

surrounding area, also improved learning outcomes for the children attending, plus opportunities for social integration and emotional well-being. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from parents, detailed observations carried out by staff daily, early year’s advisors, and by the inspections process carried out by the Education and Training Inspectorate and Social Services Early Years Trust. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of the purpose are children under statutory school age living in Meigh and its surrounding area who are attending the pre-school and their parents/carers. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by a trustee of on-going training in Good Governance, committee, finance etc.: Which are transferrable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the Benefit is provided to our Beneficiaries

What your organisation does

We provide challenging activities where children learn through play and reach their full potential through all six areas of learning which are Personal Social & Emotional, Physical, Language, Maths, The Arts and The World around us. Planning the curriculum is important as it helps the child to develop social skills, such as take turns, cooperate,

negotiate and play by the rules. Activities are planned to develop fine motor skills as a child use pencils, paint brushes, scissors and other small materials. It is important to stimulate creativity with art and craft materials also using music for body movements and expand the child’s imagination. Language develops as a child interacts with others, taking part in role play, listening to stories and answering questions. Children learn to solve problems, puzzle pieces fitting together, learn colours, numbers, size and shapes as well as enhancing their memory skills. Outdoor play is also incorporated into planning and the curriculum to develop gross motor skills. We have constant links with the local primary School. Exchanging visits throughout the year and working together on large Educational Projects. We welcome children from all denominations including those with additional needs. We provide Education of children with differing needs and requirements, (whether it is “short-term” needs or more long-term Educational needs) and to provide a welcome and appropriate learning opportunity, for all children. If it is felt that a child’s needs cannot be met in the Pre-School without the support of a one-to-one worker, funding is sought to employ one. We liaison with staff outside the pre-School including therapists, health visitors, psychologists, social workers, paediatricians and portage workers, to meet children’s specific needs.
