Public benefits

The purposes of Institute for Conflict Research are to: 1. Advance the education of the public by, in particular, carrying out research into (a) the effects of war and conflict on children, young people, adults, families and communities in Northern Ireland and internationally, where war and conflict occurs and (b) ways of relieving the suffering

of children, young people, adults, families and communities who have suffered from conflict and violence and (c) To publish the useful results of such research. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the education of the public, the establishment of cross community contacts and the publication of information that may influence policy makers. These benefits can be demonstrated by the continued good relations of cross community working groups after research and community projects are concluded; the publication of research findings being cited in academic and government documents and influencing both policy and funding within the third sector. The beneficiaries are individuals, families, communities, academics and policy makers. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose. 2. To relieve poverty, suffering and distress of those children, young people families and communities in Northern Ireland and elsewhere who have suffered from conflict, war and violence, in particular by giving advice and support to persons and agencies concerned with alleviating their suffering. What your organisation does

Advance the education of the public by, in particular, carrying out research into the effects of war and conflict on children, young people, adults, families and communities in Northern Ireland and internationally, where war and conflict occurs. We research ways of relieving the suffering of children, young people, adults, families and communities

who have suffered from conflict and violence and publish the useful results of such research. ICR aims to provide a positive contribution to the creation of a more shared, diverse, integrated and equitable society and undertakes a variety of work including evaluations, capacity building, training and community development work that contributes to conflict transformation and social justice in Northern Ireland and elsewhere.
