The public benefit is an all inclusive amateur sports club incorporating a search and recovery/rescue unit.The sporting element of our club benefits learning new skills and improving fitness levels for new and existing members.The skills will be learning to scuba dive,which includes general first aid with c.p.r.,e.a.r.and a.e.d.skills.Whilst
training within the club significant changes in fitness levels are noted due to the extensive water based training.The search and recovery/rescue unit is on the national register and local authorities register.The members benefit from their voluntary work and the public benefit as they have a unit in Mid Ulster which can be called on to carry out search and recovery/rescue throughout the borough and the country as a whole. Our club is geared towards the protection and preservation of the marine environment around our shores.Our members regularly carry out clean up operations on coastline and inland sites.We also take part in Seasearch (under water mapping and clean up) operations and our governing body is involved with The Nautical Archaeology Society,this allows us to take part in activities which are responsible for preserving and logging historical underwater sites.The members benefit by learning new nautical mapping skills and the public get better aquatic conditions with a cleaner and safer environment, our members get great satisfaction carrying out this work. The intended beneficiaries would be our members,they benefit by learning new skills,first aid,fitness levels rise and they gain a recognised qualification,they also learn about team work and improve social skills.The public benefit because of our search and recovery/rescue unit as they are on call 24/7 to assist in mid ulster and beyond when needed. There is no harm or potential for harm,the training provided by our governing body is to the highest standard and we are a sports diving club meaning we dive well within recognised industry stipulations. There is no private benefit for anyone connected to our club,all instructors are voluntary as are all club officials and members.

Our club meets on a Wednesday night and open water dives take place at the weekends. Our club meets with other dive clubs in the country to take search and recovery exercises and also other social events. The clubs ethos is to make diving affordable to everyone regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity or financial restraints. We
keep our club fees affordable to all members and this is regularly reviewed, we also provide diving equipment to all members some of who may not be in the position to purchase expensive dive equipment. Our club is affiliated to the Irish Underwater Council (CFT) this enables our members to access courses which have internationally recognised qualifications. Our members can avail of first aid, child protection, archaeology, VHF radio and boat handling courses all of which are also accredited world wide. Our club is governed by CFT and we activity involved with their work through the Nautical Archaeology Society which is responsible for preserving and logging historical underwater sites, protecting the marine environment and coastal area. We have been an active club for 30 years and promote our sport actively within our community and beyond. We take members from 10 year of age and upwards. We run programmes specifically aimed at youth groups from socially and financially deprived backgrounds this enables these groups to partake in our sport allowing them to approve fitness, social skills and education. Our members contribute to sea search Ireland which is actively involved in the logging and identification of all marine life (fish, whale, dolphin, jellyfish and crustacean) these logs are passed on to the Irish, British and European Parliaments to inform policy and preserve, protect marine life.
