Public benefits
The work of the church encompasses a number of the Public Benefit descriptions as outlined by the Charity Commission Northern Ireland. Our principal public benefit is the advancement of the Christian faith through a personal belief in Jesus Christ. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the training and equipping of people in
their Christian faith, the promotion of family stability and the well-being for those attending. Through our activities we expect people to have increased ability to contribute positively to society and to address poverty and those in need of care. We facilitate our members to carry out acts of social concern to benefit persons in North Down and the surrounding areas facing hardship on the basis of their need and thereby promoting the practice of the Christian faith. These benefits are evidenced through weekly meetings to present the teachings of the bible and the provision of opportunities for Christian response including but not limited to prayer and worship. The church provides teaching and training opportunities, using the resources of the staff employed by the church and also external courses and events. Members of the public attend our mothers and toddlers group, seniors group, children’s & youth groups and our group for people with learning disabilities. They are advertised in the weekly church bulletin and on the church website. In these groups we promote the Christian faith, friendship and care. We receive positive feedback on the value of these groups from those attending as well as parents and carers. The church’s beneficiaries are those who attend and participate in meetings and activities including children, youth, parents/carers with toddlers, the elderly and people with disabilities. Our meetings are free of charge and open to all. The charity also brings benefits to the poor in the local community through supporting appropriate charitable organisations as well as raising funds for people in poverty abroad. We also work with other churches in the North Down area to promote joint events for the public. Any private benefit flowing from the purpose of the church is incidental. No harm arises from this purpose.

a) We organise weekly public gatherings, to present the teachings of the Bible and to provide opportunities for Christian response, including but not limited to prayer and worship. Other events are held weekly on most days of the week, and include children’s and youth work, work with the elderly and work with people with learning disabilities. The
church employs a part time children’s worker to promote and co-ordinate work with children. b) Provide help and guidance to our supporters through activities that seek to promote an understanding of the Christian beliefs as set out in the church’s Statement of Faith, through practical expression of Christian beliefs and ideals in the local community. The church provides teaching and training opportunities for supporters, using the resources of the staff employed by the church and also external courses and events. c) Assist the work of individual Christians and Christian organisations, insofar as that work, whether in this country or abroad, accords with the church’s purposes. d) We facilitate our supporters to carry out acts of social concern to benefit persons facing hardship on the basis of their need and thereby promoting the practice of the Christian faith. We currently run a monthly gathering for the elderly, a weekly mothers & toddlers group for parents and carers of small children and weekly church youth groups for all ages. e) Develop relationships with other churches in North Down and the surrounding areas, as well as nationally and overseas, which are mutually beneficial in advancing our aims. Kings Fellowship is a member of the UK wide Salt & Light family of churches and we locally participate in coordinating our work with other churches in the area.
