Public benefits
In relation to the aforementioned objects which cover the overall welfare of older people living in the Ballintoy area and providing services and activities for older people and focusing on their needs, Ballintoy Young At Heart is committed to ensuring Inclusion and Equality for all. Ballintoy Young At Heart is committed to addressing the issues
of both rural and social isolation, promoting health and wellbeing including in particular mental health, attracting more volunteering opportunities particularly amongst the aging population of this area. Members of the Ballintoy Young At Heart completed a questionnaire in response to the benefits of the ongoing projects and what they would like to plan and develop for the future. They have stated that the project not only helps to address both rural and social isolation but that it has a beneficial impact on their overall health and well being, including mental health. This is made evident in their continuous support for the Club and the increase in membership. The Club has been in existence for over seventeen years and the number of members has increased over this time, which also helps to illustrate the continued evidence of need for this project. Members have been involved in a range of activities that include reminiscing workshops, arts and crafts, collaborating with other clubs and lots of outings both educational and social. In relation to all of the above, the beneficiaries of Ballintoy Young At Heart are all people living in and around the area of Ballintoy and, in particular but not exclusive of others, older people. There are no harms resulting from any of the purposes. No person connected with the organisation gains a private benefit which is more than incidental to carrying out the purposes.
