Public benefits

Our beneficiaries are young people living in Northern Ireland, aged between 11 and 25. They will benefit through access to programmes, training and experiential learning, such as cross community and good relations programmes, participative democracy and social justice projects, gaining new experiences, advancement of life skills, friendships and

life changing experiences. These benefits can be demonstrated case studies, evaluations, witness testimonies and measured at personal, peer, community and societal levels. 'As a result of our work young people will have improved self confidence and feelings of self worth; they will feel empowered and confident to make improved decisions in every area of their lives; they will be less likely to engage in risk taking behaviour and their direct involvement in the policy making process should result in more effective policy that is both needs based and evidence driven.' There is no private benefit or harm in relation to the objects.

What your organisation does

Our work is diverse and wide ranging and includes youth development projects; intervention work; street based youth work; training and capacity building; community change; community relations; participative democracy and social justice work. We operate throughout NI and are a 'Regional Voluntary Youth Organisation' (RVYO). Our job is to promote

the voice of young people in the decision making process and much of our work focuses on effecting change at a policy level. Young people benefit directly from a range of programmes; educational and capacity building courses; interventions; one to one work; mentoring; personal development work; community and citizenship projects; community development work; community relations work; etc. These programmes have a wider benefit to society and community in that all of the work young people engage in is 'for the greater good' with indirect benefits for family; peers and communities. Young people through engaging with the youth forum, will have the opportunity to overcome barriers to learning; be encouraged and supported to have a say in the issues that are most important to them and develop self awareness and inner strength to achieve in all areas of their lives. We offer a range of programmes from Youth Democracy projects; detached youth work; outreach work; accredited and non accredited training; cross community and cross border work; international work; programmes for NEET and 'at risk' young people. We work closely with local authorities and the legislative assembly.
