Public benefits

To promote play base learning for all children under statutory school age in Portstewart and its surrounding area. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include raising awareness of age appropriate play based learning among parents and carers and the provision of early education for children under statutory school age in

Portstewart. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from parents, Early Years Advisers and regular evaluation of the service by Social Services and the Education and Training Inspectorate. The purpose does not lead to harm. The beneficiaries of the purpose are children under statutory school age living in Portstewart and its surrounding area. They also include parent and carers of children under statutory school age in Portstewart and its surrounding area. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by a trustee from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Which are transferable to both settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. The Trustees believe that the purpose satisfies both elements of the public benefit requirement.

Charitable purposes

The group is established to promote play based learning environments for all children under statutory school age in Portstewart and its surrounding environs, irrespective of their background. The Group will work with the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and in particular to advance the education of the children by the provision of safe and satisfying group play, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group; and to promote the preservation of the health of the children; and to support the values and principles of Early Years.
