Public benefits
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to
harm. The benefit is for children at Botanic Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Botanic Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
Our PTA is made up of all parents and staff, run by an elected committee. As a group we seek to ensure that all parents and staff can be actively involved in our organisation – whose main purpose is to provide resources to enhance the pupil experience at our school. We have one main fundraiser each year – generally a sponsored event (Danceathon)
and several other opportunities when people can contribute to our funds. These have been used, alongside various grants that we have applied for to provide major additions to the school environment like a major piece of playground equipment, an outdoor classroom/learning, fun environment and recently 30 Ipads. These have all made a significant impact on the lives of the pupils and will continue to do so for many years to come. In addition the PTA are actively involved in the Summer and Christmas Fairs, Hallow’een Fancy Dress and an Easter event – ensuring the children have fun at school with events planned with the fun element as a focus. They also contribute directly to the classroom by providing money for teachers to buy additional classroom resources and ensure that each child gets at least one school trip annually by providing entrance fees for trips that would otherwise be unaffordable – in association with the school who fund the transport costs. As a body, the PTA promotes social inclusion in a supportive, worthwhile and purposeful atmosphere.
