Public benefits
Foyle Harps Development Association meets the Public Benefit Requirement as follows: Purpose One: (The advancement of amateur sport) The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is that of improved physical health, development of relationships with peers and elders for the children and young people who participate and improved community life
through sports, namely football. Participants increase their levels of physical activity and learn and develop new skills in sport. These benefits are evidenced through attendance sheets of members attending the club for training and matches and through feedback obtained from the members, parents/guardians and club volunteers. Regarding potential harm flowing from this benefit; participation in sporting activities always carries a risk of injury, however ensuring that participants are fit and wearing of proper protective equipment, e.g. shin guards proper footwear and engaging in suitable warm up activities mitigates the risk and allows the child or young person to fully enjoy and benefit from the activity. Our club is covered by adequate insurance and we keep a first aid kit on the premises at all times. The beneficiaries of this purpose are our members who are young people aged from 7 -17 years of age from all the Shantallow Area, wider Derry City area and Donegal also. The only possible private benefit arising from this is that from time to time our coaches may avail of professional coaching courses which enhance their level of qualification. However this benefit is incidental as we require this training in order to ensure the safe and professional standards in the training of our players. Purpose Two: (Advancing Health and Physical Education) The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is that young people from the Shantallow Area of Derry, Derry City area and Donegal are more educated as to the benefits of healthy eating and have increased levels of participation in physical activity through our training sessions and playing in our amateur tournaments. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from individual members, parents/guardians and club volunteers and participant numbers registered with our club. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the young people who are members of the football club (aged 7-17 years old). There is no private benefit arising from this purpose.

Foyle Harps FC was founded in 1916 and we celebrate our centenary next year. We operate our training out of Leafair Pitches which has both grass and 3G pitches. We run training and football matches from age 7 through to 17 and shortly will be relaunching our senior team. We also have indoor training at 4-6pm at Shantallow Community Centre for age 4
-6 year olds. At the minute we have approx 160 players and 12 coaches. Some of these are qualified to European B licence standard. We provide both training, football games and provide a safe friendly times for all our players, coaches and parents. Our organisation seeks to promote the advancement of amateur sport in the community and develop skills and opportunities for our young people. We recruit players from the greater Shantallow area but also included are players from throughout Derry City and Donegal. We have had at least 15 players turned professional in the past 20 years
