Public benefits
Purpose 1 The benefits include enhanced community relations, through actively engaging community members in tailor made programs. Increased skills development through training active volunteers within the community. Improved mental health by providing a range of therapeutic community programs. Improved health and well being of the residents, by
providing a social program and healthy hot meals for the elderly. Decrease in social isolation by involving those most vulnerable in the area. The beneficiaries include: Older people - we host a monthly luncheon club. Children and young people - weekly hip hop dance sessions. Craft classes, Seasonal events. Unemployed - we have local volunteers who help with environmental projects, also we are currently working in partnership with the local jobs and benefits office and College to run a job club and community based training. General - we also run a range of different health programs for all ages in partnership with the health trust, and family away days which is offered to the whole community. The benefit can be demonstrated through the evaluation forms that are collated following every program or event. We also have to provide monitoring to our funders such as Big Lottery Fund and DSD Neighbourhood Renewal where monitoring and evaluations are paramount. We also speak to residents regarding services provided holding focus groups with those using the services and for those harder to reach identifying why they have not used services in the past. Purpose 2 The public benefit is increased education classes delivered in a community setting which provide more opportunities for employability also building self esteem and confidence of Beneficiaries. This can be demonstrated by the numbers attending our Community education classes and job club, as well as evaluations completed at each session. Additionally this can be measured by those gaining employment. The beneficiaries are local people who avail of the classes. There is no harm or private benefit from either of our purposes.
