Public benefits
• Our mission is to benefit older people to enable them to improve their mental health and well-being by providing tutors and facilitators to go out into the community for them to participate in positive recreational, social, arts, cultural and physical activities. We network with groups to promote active ageing initiatives so older people are
more informed on issues which affect them in their daily life. We offer them the opportunity to become more included in their community and to gain new skills through consultations, meetings and training from different statutory and community groups. Share regular information on local activities so they can avail of different social events to mix with other groups from different backgrounds. Membership is open to all older people’s groups, clubs, day centres, sheltered homes and organisations that provide services to older people. Our mission is to foster improvements to health, well-being and quality of life among people in their later years in the Foyle area by promoting the concept of active ageing through a vibrant network. • Our purposes are not harmful and no-one privately benefits.

ALLY Foyle (Active living in later years) is a network of older people’s groups in the Derry City Council area and was formed in August 2004. Membership to the network is made up of different groups - community & voluntary groups, active ageing clubs, day care centres, residential & sheltered homes and organisations providing services to older
people. These clubs and groups are all independently managed and we co-ordinate and liase between the groups. The groups hail from a variety of social, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. They are located in both urban and rural areas of the Foyle. We provide tutors and facilitators to deliver social, recreational, physical and creative programmes and activities to older people to increase their mental health and well-being.
