Public benefits

Ben Clark Foundation - Working for Public Benefit • The prevention or relief of poverty: All of the work of Ben Clark Foundation contributes to prevention and relief of poverty, directly benefiting those who receive support as well as reducing prevalence of suffering and inequality in society. Our partnerships and programmes support the sick and

needy, the poor, and marginalised young people, families and communities. • The advancement of education: We work with organisations that support schools and early child develolment centres, improving the quality and reach of education for communities most in need. Promoting our work also increases public awareness and knowledge of other cultures and development contexts, helping to create informed, active and engaged citizens, capable and motivated to contribute to the development of their own communities. • The advancement of health or the saving of lives: We work with health and social welfare organisations other charities that provide health services to reduce illness and disease and reducing the financial burden on families and individuals in accessing health services. Our work increasing awareness of healthy living and disease prevention also reduces the demand for health services. • The advancement of citizenship or community development: We support community development and active citizenship. By involving and empowering beneficiaries and relevant stakeholders in projects we advance citizenship and encourage and support beneficiaries to become agents of development and change. • We financially support the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. We fundraise for those organisations that provide social welfare support to these vulnerable groups where existing support services are lacking. The public benefits from the support received through reduction of the burden placed on existing carers and services and by ensuring the well-being of these groups is met.

What your organisation does

We provide financial support to organisations that implement financial assistance and welfare services to children and their families who are homeless or living in desperate conditions or who are sick or disabled. These organisations fulfil the criteria of our constitution. Education: We financially support organisations that construct and

renovate facilities for schools, improve learning environments, and comfort and well being for pupils and teachers. We also financially support early child learning centres and organisations that provide educational and social welfare needs for disdvantaged or disabled children and communities. We also fund salaries for teachers to assist underfunded schools to attract and retain teachers and to increase the quality and range of classes they are able to provide. This benefit is felt particularly in Northern Ireland and the other countries where our volunteers, donors and supporters are from. We work extensively to include volunteers in our fundraising and awareness events, and to inform and educate the public. Each year the board members choose a local charity in the province to support such as the NI Childrens Hospice, Autism NI, The Cedar Foundation, Tiny Life, Northern Ireland Children's Kidney Fund and the Moving Mountains Trust which works in east Africa. Health: We fund and support work and research and services which look after the needs of people in the community who are suffering from diseases or conditions that require care and we welfare. This may include community services and individual services, whereby specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound objectives are evaluated, supervised, implemented and monitored so that the benefits can serve the community for years to come.
