PURPOSE 1 The direct benefits that flow from the implementation of this purpose provide an increased awareness and knowledge of the skills involving the art and technology of photography. These benefits are evidenced by the full complement of people, relative to capacity afforded on each occasion, who attend these various events as described here
below. Since the establishment of the Jill Todd Trust this purpose has been delivered on an annual basis through the organising and convening, of: lectures, seminars, master classes, portfolio reviews and photographic exhibitions. There is no private benefit flowing from the purpose of the Trust. All of the above events and activities are provided and supported free of charge to all participants. PURPOSE 2 The direct benefits that flow from this purpose are the promotion of the employment of and careers in photography for the public and in particular young people and students. The benefits are evidenced by the increasing popularity of the events and activities here below described which, over the past four years has led to the expansion of the respective regional range. The ‘purpose’ is delivered to: Final Year, Master of Art students and those within three years of graduation in Photography and Fine Art degree courses in Northern Ireland, The Republic of Ireland and Scotland. Further expansion to include the whole of the United Kingdom is under consideration The ‘purpose’ is delivered through the organising of an annual photographic award known as The Jill Todd Photographic Award. To date four Awards have taken place. Publicity and enhanced profile is considered key to the promotion of careers and employment in photography. The Award culminates in 3 month long exhibitions in prominent galleries. A special viewing night is organised whereby the press and persons involved in the employment of photographers are invited. The exhibitions are open to the public and are publicised through fliers and posters placed throughout other galleries and similar key locations and via the Award’s and respective galleries’ Facebook and Twitter accounts. Publicity has also been secured via television, radio and the press. The Award and exhibitions are also substantially publicised via the Award’s website: www.jilltoddphotoaward.com Prizes are geared to assist in the promotion of employment and careers in photography and include: - Cash awards. - Winners and Commended Entrants’ Certificates. - The printing, framing and hanging and exhibition of the winners and commended entrants’ works - 9 months mentoring from two eminent photographic artists. - Attendance at a lecture and masterclass in photography. - Reimbursement of travel and subsistence costs incurred in relation to attending the Award events and activities. The Award is open to an estimated 4000 photographers and Fine Artists. A wide age range of between 20 and 50 years have entered the competition since inception in 2011. There is no private benefit flowing from the purpose of the Trust. A small entrance fee of £15 is required from the Award entrants. All other events, activities and services are provided free of charge. PURPOSE 3 The benefits that flow from this purpose are manifest through the raising of funds which are donated to related established recipients who deliver care and medical research. These benefits are evidenced by the raising and donating in excess of £35,000 over the past three years. The raising of funds by the Jill Todd Trust has been implemented by activities which include the following: - Sale of Photographic Art. - Sale of greetings cards made from photographs taken by the late Jill Todd - Organising of and convening Family Fun Days. There is no private benefit flowing from this or any particular purpose of the Jill Todd Trust.
