Public benefits
Our purposes are advancement of religion, relief of poverty and advancement of health. These relate to needy people mainly in Koudougou in Burkina Faso in West Africa. The advancement of religion and principles of Christian living benefit people spiritually and as a consequence, mentally and emotionally. As they follow Christian teaching their
self-esteem, morality and behaviour improve and they develop a moral framework for living. This enables them to be good members of society knowing right from wrong and living an upright life, allowing them to be good citizens of their community and nation. Relief of poverty enables the poorest and most needy people to have food and clothing and to receive an education, the most basic human requirements. This leads to improved health and wellbeing and also an improvement in their local community. In addition it allows marginalised groups in that society to gain financial independence. The advancement of health leads to improved health outcomes and quality of life for the people in the Koudougou area of Burkina Faso. These benefits can be demonstrated by the numbers of students that graduate each year from the Bible school that we fund and in addition the increasing number of children who are progressing through education, marginalised groups that are now financially independent and numbers who are converting to Christianity and living according to the faith’s moral code and conduct which leads to improved health and benefits their community in other ways. There is no private benefit to any trustees or volunteers from our purposes and no potential harm aside from the obvious risk associated with foreign travel when our trustees visit Burkina Faso. However all medical and foreign office advice is followed carefully regarding travel.

Bridge of Hope seeks to advance Christianity throughout the world by providing money to support a pastor in Koudougou, Burkina Faso. This money enables him to construct church buildings and a Bible College in the city and to establish churches in rural villages to enable these people to receive pastoral care and Christian teaching. Lecturers also
attend the church from Northern Ireland, in order to educate the pastors in Burkina Faso and to further their knowledge of the faith. We also donate money to local visiting pastors in Northern Ireland for them to use in their own ministries and to another charity, Outreach Amazon, for their work in Brazil. Bridge of Hope has supplied money to marginalised groups in Koudougou- for example a group of widows received money in the form of a “grant” to set up an enterprise venture- they are now self- sufficient and no longer rely on “hand-outs” from others. In addition, the church community have planted mango trees- these provide food for the church community and the remainder are sold to make money for the community. We have set up a primary school and a secondary school. These schools provide a nutritious meal every day for the children. Some of these children have progressed onto university education and in the past we have paid fees for some of these young adults. Through these ventures we aim to relieve poverty suffered by the people in this community.
