Purpose 1: The promotion and development of social and cultural identity. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: beneficiaries are more aware and have a greater appreciation of their own culture; increased opportunity for social interaction with those from other areas; more opportunity for personal growth; smaller groups might

These benefits will be evidenced by increased numbers attending events; word of mouth feedback; written evaluations forms from workshops; feedback from appraisals to funder. We do not anticipate any harm leading from this purpose of our charity. The charity’s beneficiaries are people in the counties of Londonderry, Tyrone and Donegal. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose. Purpose 2: The advancement of education amongst such persons who have need of such facilities by the provision of advice, counselling and information suitable and relevant to their needs. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: better skilled; more aware of regulation around basic food hygiene, child protection etc; increased opportunity for interaction with those outside their own community. These benefits will be evidenced by numbers attending our various events; verbal feedback on events and activities; written evaluations; photographs and press releases. We do not anticipate any harm leading from the purposes of our charity. The charity’s beneficiaries are people in the counties of Londonderry, Tyrone and Donegal. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is than a trustee will gain skills and knowledge through our education programme. Through this trustees gain skills which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose 3: The provision or assistance in the provision of recreational and other leisure time activities in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the conditions of life for such persons. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: improved physical fitness and emotional well being; increased opportunities for social interaction. These benefits will be evidenced by word of mouth feedback from participants reporting improved self esteem and physical fitness; new friendships being formed, bridging community gaps. We do not anticipate any harm leading from the purposes of our charity. The charity’s beneficiaries are people in the counties of Londonderry, Tyrone and Donegal. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is than a trustee will gain skills and knowledge through our recreational activities. Derry & Raphoe Action seeks to build the confidence and capacity of the Ulster-Scots community, stimulate community awareness of our Ulster-Scots traditions, encourage young people to participate in our Ulster-Scots traditions and fully engage with public bodies to mainstream the Ulster-Scots traditions. We are about moving Ulster-Scots forward
and ensuring that our culture , heritage and traditions are valued by all. The organisation initially focused on peace building and capacity building within the Counties Tyrone, Londonderry and Donegal. In 2009 in consultation with the community, we redefined our strategic objectives focusing on Omagh and Strabane District Council areas. We have therefore sought to focus on the following strategic objectives. • The development of Ulster-Scots culture, heritage and traditions in West Tyrone • Support and empower the Ulster-Scots community to play a positive role in the cultural life of West Tyrone. • Build the capacity of the Ulster-scots community through networking and education. By developing the Ulster-Scots culture, heritage and traditions in West Tyrone we are seeking to increase awareness about and the understanding of Ulster-Scots language and traditions. Our strategic aims also seek to enhance the contribution that Ulster-Scots language and culture can make towards developing cultural identity, creating respect for cultural diversity and stimulating social cohesion. Derry & Raphoe Action seeks to ensure that the Ulster-Scots community in West Tyrone offer to all a vibrant, energetic, rich Ulster-Scots culture and identity which in turn can play a positive role in building a better place for us all to live in.
