Public benefits

a) To promote village regeneration and development by assisting in the design and implementation of community action plans. The direct benefits which flow from purpose a) include improved health, reduction of stress, improved citizenship and helping community development. These benefits are (will be) demonstrated through increased participation in

community events, working parties etc; reduction in anti social behaviour; improved facilities in the area; enhanced environment. There is no harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are elderly, disabled, families, men, women, children, all religions and cultures, in the village of Rasharkin and district. Local shopsmay benefit, but this is incidental and outweighs the benefit they are providing b) To relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, or other disadvantage.The direct benefits which flow from purpose b) include improved health, especially mental health; learning about citizenship; increased knowledge of heritage and cultureThese benefits are (will be) demonstrated through attendance by use of play facilities and a reduction is antisocial behaviour; recording and archiving of materials about the past. Accidents may occur. We can show that this harm is outweighed by the benefits through minimising the risks The charity’s beneficiaries are families, children teenagers, the elderly one parent families, unemployed, and disabled people from the village of Rasharkin and its district.The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is outside facilitators may be used who will benefit from payment and this is incidental and necessary because the skills are not available within the groups. c) To provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of the area of benefit.The direct benefits which flow from purpose c) include improvement of health including mental health; relief of poverty; culture and heritage increase social wellbeing.These benefits are (will be) demonstrated through visible structures, eg outdoor play facility and its usage; Clubs and societies, annual festival; other social events.The purposes of our charity may lead to the following harm accidents may occur. The benefit to the people outweighs the possibility of harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are all sectors;children, young people, parents, adults, older people, disabled; people from all cultures and religions in Rasharkin and District.The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is Local shops but supporting local business helps to maintain the business in the village d) To promote culture and heritage and raise awareness of local history.The direct benefits which flow from purpose d) include cultures learning about heritage; promotion of religious and racial harmony, equality and diversity.These benefits are (will be) demonstrated through materials being archived and the participation from across the community.There should be no harm from this purpose.The charity’s beneficiaries are the older people working on the project, the people of Rasharkin and District and future generations.There would be no private benefit from this. f) To promote good community relations, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity.The direct benefits which flow from purpose f) include promotion of religious and racial harmony, equality and diversity; reduction in stress and anxiety and improvement of social well-being, improvement in health. These benefits are (will be) demonstrated through reduction in sectarian graffiti, more peaceful parades, improved image in the press.There will be no harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are the residents of Rasharkin VillageThere will be no private benefit.

What your organisation does

We are a community development group, working from a volunteer base. We have an office open to the public to provide office services, information from statutory bodies and advertise local events. We publish and deliver a quarterly Newsletter to every home in the village. We network with Housing Executive Interagency Meeting, North Antrim

Community network, Ballymoney Community Resource Centre and Ballymoney Policing Forum. We are also represented at Rasharkin Good relations Forum and Ballymoney Churches Forum. We organise annual events such as decorating Christmas in the village with a children's party and Santa Claus. We organise other fund raising events. We work in collaboration with other groups in the village to organise an annual festival.. We have a five year village plan which was developed through rigorousaudit and consultation with local groups and leaders. We provide floral enhancement. We have a Parent and toddler group, a youth Club and a History group, We organise an Oil Club for bulk buying of heating oil to help reduce the costs of home heating. We apply for funding to Trusts, Foundations and other funding bodies to enable to carry out projects to meet the need of the community

Charitable purposes

The Charity’s objects (‘the Objects’) are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Rasharkin and its environs (the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, political, religious or other opinion by associating with the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to :- (a) promote village regeneration and development by assisting in the design and implementation of community action plans; (b) relieve those in need by reason of youth, age or other disadvantage; (c) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of the area of benefit; (d) promote culture and heritage and raise awareness of local history; (e) organise festivals and other community events; (f) promote good community relations, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity; (g) promote such other charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined.
