Benefits for participants engaging in the women’s group support/services include amongst others Improve life opportunities and enhancement of the quality of lives through early interventions Parent(s), Families will be more skilled and confident in responding to children’s needs, will have a greater resilience through the knowledge and skills
learned, will be more empowered and will feel more able and confident to ask for help. Reduced inequalities in health and access to health services. Improved mental, physical and emotional health, help reduce the reliance on prescription drugs Intensive support both Outreach and In-House is provided by the staff to those parent(s) who have being referred by Health and Social Care Professionals some of whom have children in care or on the Child Protection register Participants who complete the Personal and Social Development courses gain the information, skills and knowledge to play an informative role in the health, social and emotional development of their children/families. Increased awareness and understanding of parental role as primary educators of their children. Victims of Domestic and Sexual violence/abuse will feel supported and less vulnerable and isolated. Participants are supported by the staff in availing off additional support services such as counselling, alternative therapies, childcare, education, legal/medical assistance The benefits for participants engaging in the services provided by Lenadoon Women’s Group can be demonstrated through: The increased number of women, Families Parent(s) individuals availing of and taking part in the women’s group services and support. Increased level of self-confidence/self-esteem gained by those who have availed of the women’s group services and support, which have provided them with better life skills to deal with Challenges. Improved coping skills for those who participate in the Health and Wellbeing courses/workshops/one to one support provided by the women’s group. New skills participants have learned through the Connecting with Your Family courses are used to promote and improve Life Chances for their children. Attendance and participation in Case Conferences and LAC reviews has led to a number of children taken off the ‘At Risk Register’ and a number of children taken out of care and returned to their families. The above would be evidenced through monitoring the number of Women, Families Parent(s) Individuals who accessed the women’s group services and support. Feedback/evaluation with participants allows the group to tailor their courses/services/support to meet their individual needs There is no private benefit for the women’s group, staff, or management committee. The only harm that can arise, is if, the women’s group loses its funding and is unable to continue to provide the current level of one to one support and services required by those who are in crisis.

What the Organisation Does From its inception Lenadoon Women’s Group has worked tirelessly to support the growing needs and issues of Women Parent(s) and local Families. The Women’s Group work towards trying to create a stable, secure, confident community in the wider neighbourhood. The group promotes the benefits for local people by working in
partnership with local authorities, Health and Social Care Professionals, GP’s Counsellors, Housing Providers, Women’s Organisations, Community Groups/Services and Voluntary Organisations to provide secure provision of social services, educational and recreational facilities for all sections of the Community i.e.; youth, elderly, people with special needs, disabled, women, men, children unemployed and other disadvantaged groups within the area, in the interests of Social Welfare. The group runs a number of courses including Personal Development, Parenting, Anger Management, Stress Management and Emotional Health and Well Being. They also organise workshops and information events in response to specific issues of concern that have being raised by local people. The staff and Volunteers provide a holistic Family Support Service including Home Visitation, Outreach Family Support and In House one to one and group support. They also provide support to individuals and Families in medical, legal and other situations where their support is needed. The Volunteers and staff of the women’s group also actively participate in Case Conferences, Looked After Children Reviews and Case Reviews and work with a number of Children At Risk or about to go on the At Risk Register. The group also runs a number of fund raising activities throughout the year including cake fairs, raffles and bazaars etc. to help towards support for families in crisis
