Advancement of Religion Oasis Village Trust (‘Oasis’) seeks to advance the Christian Faith in Ndola, Zambia (“the Area of Benefit”) through: 1. Demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ in action though offering practical assistance to orphaned children living in the Area of Benefit, meeting their physical needs. 2. Teaching children in the Area of
Benefit stories from God’s Word, the Bible, and essentially that Jesus loves them. 3. Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those we come into contact with in the Area of Benefit who wish to find out more about what we believe. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are the promotion of Christian values for the benefit of individuals and an improved sense of well-being for those receiving the message of the Gospel. The indirect benefits which flow from this purpose include the moral improvement in society as a whole which religion is considered to encourage. Advancement of Education Oasis recognises the long-term benefits of education both to individuals and to society as a whole. In furtherance of this aim, one of the buildings at Oasis's premises is currently used by a school. Orphans under the care of Oasis can attend this school without having to pay fees and will receive a free lunch. The benefits which flow from this purpose include: (i) The intellectual development and enhancement in knowledge and understanding of individual beneficiaries. (ii) An improved sense of well-being and increased self-esteem of individual beneficiaries as they develop new skills, capabilities and knowledge. These benefits will be evidenced through beneficiaries ultimately being equipped to enter into employment. The beneficiaries are orphaned children in the Area of Benefit who would not otherwise have access to education. The Prevention or Relief of Poverty The Christian message of love and encouragement is advanced by Oasis through the provision of practical assistance such as food and clothing to those living in poverty or deprivation in the Area of Benefit. In addition, Oasis provides residential accommodation for up to 50 orphaned children living in the Area of Benefit. The benefits which flow from this purpose include the alleviation of hunger, the provision of shelter, the relief of poverty and the nurturing and development of children in a safe and caring environment. Advancement of Health We provide access to healthcare to those living in the Area of Benefit deprived of such provision by their economic circumstances. The benefit which flows from this purpose is the improved health and welfare of individual beneficiaries. There is also a wider benefit to communities and society in general in having a healthier population. These benefits will be evidenced through the restoration to health of those who are ill, a reduction in disease and mortality rates and a general improvement in health and welfare. The beneficiaries are those in need of basic healthcare services in the Area of Benefit. Advancement of Community Development We are seeking to assist in the regeneration of the Ndola community though the provision of residential accommodation for orphaned children, removing children from the streets. The benefits which flow from this purpose include a general improvement in the well-being of individuals within the Area of Benefit. The only private benefit flowing from our purposes is the support of the main pioneer in the work of Oasis, Ziso Moyo, who lives in Ndola, Zambia. He is involved on a full-time basis in the work of Oasis, lives locally, and is supported by a regular salary from Oasis. However, we consider this benefit to be incidental and necessary in order to further our charitable purposes. We do not anticipate that any harm will flow from any of the above purposes.
