The board of the club has overall responsibilities for safety and for ensuring that proper and appropriate systems and structures are in place to minimise the risk of harm. Overall, the benefits of the club and its activities outweigh the potential for harm. Private Benefit There may be some incidental private benefit for the members of the Board in having access to the activities of the club. This incidental benefit is a consequence of the governance structure of the club. The boxing club is a self governing, autonomous entity where the board is nominated and elected by the membership.

Ormeau Boxing Club started in early 2014 to meet the demands for this provision in the Ormeau Road area of Belfast. The Club operates on an amateur basis and is open to the whole community. The Club operated from 54A Sunnyside Street in Belfast. The Club encourages people of all religions, backgrounds, genders and abilities to attend the training
sessions. To make sure all people in the community are made to feel welcome there are some simple rules; - No Football, G.A.A. or Rugby related clothing or sports bags will be allowed on the premises . - All Republican, Loyalist, Irish, British Flag or a football Tattoo's to be kept it covered whilst attending the Club. Whilst the Club respects everybody's right to express their culture and history the Club is interested in providing the local people with a sports facility that hasn't been available for 25 years. Therefore, the Club asks for those attending the facility to be courteous and respect the shared space. This has proven very popular and the Club is growing in support and members. The Club looks to support the local people through boxing training. The trainers at the Club will provide support to those who enter the Club and train them in amateur boxing.
