The directors of Stepping Stones Creche believe that the charities purposes meet the 2 elements of the public benefit requirement. The creche provides affordable childcare on a half day or full day basis, as well as pick ups and wrap around care from other pre schools within Portstewart. Children from 6 weeks to Primary 7 are provided with the

opportunity to access high quality crèche, preschool, afterschool and holiday club childcare provision. The quality of childcare provided advances the education and development of the children attending all these provisions. The creche is available to all children (from 6weeks to Primary 7) and is inclusive of all backgrounds irrespective of ability, religion, culture race or means. Stepping Stones Creche aims to provide a fun and stimulating environment for the children where they can learn and develop new skills and grow in confidence. Stepping Stones Creche relieves those in need by reason of youth by promoting the welfare of children. Children are given a good start in life at the Creche and are provided with a safe, educational, and fun environment. There is no harm The charity's beneficiaries are the children who attend the setting and the parents/guardians of the children who attend. The board aims to keep the cost to parents as affordable as possible so as they can return to work or education. The staff can provide parents with structured feedback as the staff undertake observations of the child’s progress towards developmental milestones. Parents are kept up-to-date with regular information of their child’s day through the Famly App. The charity also benefits the staff employed who are necessary for the facilities to be run effectively for the benefit of the children and to offer a safe and caring environment with appropriate supervision. Staff also benefit from various training opportunities to build their own skills and professional development to help facilitate the childrens learning and development within their care. The board of directors, who are all unpaid volunteers oversee the staff, and ensure they are effectively managed. All directors currently have children attending the nursery. They use the facility on the same basis as any other parent, there is no undue benefit. There is no harm.

What your organisation does

Stepping Stones Creche is a not for profit organisation which is run by a board of directors, made up of parents whose children attend the creche. The members of the board are unpaid. The creche has been operating for over XX years and whilst the location has changed from University of Ulster, Coleraine Campus to a premise in Portstewart the

level of care and nurture afforded to each child is unchanged. It is an excellent, reputable creche which advances education and promotes the welfare and development of children within the local community and surrounding areas. The creche provides childcare needs for children from 6 weeks to Primary 7. The creche is open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and provides a range of flexible and affordable childcare to families within Portstewart, Portrush, Coleraine and surrounding areas. Parents can benefit from childcare which includes: Baby room, Waddler room, Toddler Room, Big Room (which includes 15 funded preschool places), 2 after schools clubs (one located within each of the primary schools in Portstewart) and Holiday Clubs for Preschool/Primary school age children. The creche provides affordable childcare on a half day or full day basis, as well as pick ups and wrap around care from other pre schools within Portstewart. The childcare provided is specifically aimed at the child’s age and needs, in a nurturing and spacious environment. All facilities used by the creche are registered with Health& Social Services. There are currently 207 children registered with the creche, across all the rooms offered.

Charitable purposes

4) The Company’s objects (“Objects”) are specifically restricted to the advancement of education, relief of poverty and preservation and protection of health of children (under 12 years old) within Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush and their environs of Northern Ireland (the 'area of benefit'), by the provision of childcare, play facilities and recreational activities in the interests of social welfare with the object of enhancing the education and development of said children, without distinction of sex, race or of political, religious or other opinions, and so that their conditions of life may be improved and in particular: (a) to provide facilities for the daily care, recreation and education for children who are below the compulsory school age, and for children of compulsory school age out of school hours and during school holidays.
