What your organisation does

Catalyst Arts is the longest running artist led gallery in Northern Ireland. Established in 1993 it has since built a reputation as an innovative and experimental space for contemporary art, through it's gallery programme, public projects, artists commissions and pioneering FIX, Northern Ireland's longest running Performance and Live Art

Biennale. The organisation is by a board of co-directors who each serve a two-year term, voluntarily and during that time are responsible for the design, development and delivery of high quality art programme and resources to the public in Northern Ireland. The organisation consistently attracts high calibre and dedicated artists, curators and producers to its board from across Northern Ireland and internationally fostering their career development at an early stage. Catalyst Arts provides the public with an exciting programme of innovative, multidisciplinary contemporary art from local, national and international artists, alongside complementary educational workshops and talks which are always free, accessible and open to all and aims to maintain and improve its existing relations with other arts organisations and to continue to expand and reach new audiences to bring arts and cultural appreciation, education and experience to the public. As an artist-led organisation Catalyst Arts has remained a dedicated advocate for new and innovative opportunities for artists and audiences of all ages and disciplines, which cannot be provided by conventional art institutions. We also provide a unique platform for emerging local artists and recent graduates to exhibit their work in a curated context within an accessible, professional and stimulating environment. The gallery fulfils a significant local and national role by touring Northern Irish artists both nationally and internationally. We provide artists with the use of our technological resources, networking opportunities and access to our historical archives.
