Public benefits

Purpose 1: The promotion of the Christian religion. The beneficiaries are people of all ages, gender and ethnicities, with a particular, although not exclusive, emphasis on women. The expected outcome will be that such persons will be more aware of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Bible regarding Jesus Christ and how we should

live our lives. Living their lives in this way will result in them being better and more productive members of society. This benefit can be measured firstly in terms of the number of people who are presented with the teachings of the Bible and secondly by those who respond to those teachings and seek to follow the Christian religion. It is not expected that anyone would be harmed by the promotion of the Christian religion although it is accepted that some people may be offended by it. However, this offence can be reduced by a considerate presentation of the Christian religion and by allowing people the right to refuse to listen. The only benefit to Aglow International (Ireland) from this purpose is that its membership might increase Purpose 2: To promote age and gender recognition, acceptance, tolerance, integration and reconciliation based on a Christian framework. It will also fall within the area of promotion of religion since it will have a Christian framework. The beneficiaries will be people of all races, gender and ethnicities with a particular emphasis on male and female reconciliation within a Christian framework. The expected outcome will be that such persons will be more aware of gender differences but also be better able to accept, tolerate and integrate those differences according to the teachings of the Bible. This should lead to more harmonious male-female relationships. The benefit can be measured firstly by the numbers who are presented with the relevant teachings or who receive any form of counselling in these areas, and secondly by the number who positively respond and implement these teachings and counsel. It is not expected that anyone will be harmed in any way by this purpose although it is recognised that some may be offended by the fact that the teaching and counsel given will be Christian based. However, this offence can be reduced by a considerate presentation of the teaching and by allowing people the right to refuse it. There is no expected direct benefit to Aglow International (Ireland) from this purpose. Purpose 3: To amplify awareness of global concerns from a Biblical perspective. It will also fall within the area of promotion of religion since it will have a Christian perspective. The beneficiaries will be people of all races, gender and ethnicities. The expected outcome will be that such persons will be more aware of global events and a Christian interpretation of them, leading to a positive and pro-active approach to such issues. The benefit can be measured firstly by the numbers who are presented with the relevant teachings or who receive any form of counselling in these areas, and secondly by the response of such persons to positively help where they can those affected by the global issues being dealt with. It is not expected that anyone will be harmed in any way by this purpose although it is recognised that some may be offended by the fact that the perspective from which the issues will be approached will be a Christian one. However, this offence can be reduced by a considerate presentation of the teaching and by allowing people the right to refuse it. There is no expected direct benefit to Aglow International (Ireland) from this purpose apart from some possible contributions to the relief efforts of Aglow International Worldwide. What your organisation does

Aglow International in Ireland promotes the Christian religion through outreach events, Christian gatherings and working with local churches. The organisation also has a number of local groups who meet and provide Christian teaching as well as reaching out to the local community. The organisation works with local churches to provide speakers for

events and also providing teams of people who can help with outreach events. Events are organised which provide a platform where people of various and differing backgrounds and cultures can meet together. As well as bringing together people from both Northern and Southern Ireland and from catholic and Protestant backgrounds, Aglow International in Ireland has also hosted events involving leaders of groups from across Western and Eastern Europe. Events are organised to provide Christian teaching and also to provide training of Christian leaders, thus enhancing their ability to teach and help others. Local groups organise things like tea/coffee mornings which provide a safe and welcoming environment for people to meet and also a place where they know they can get help in resolving life issues such as financial difficulties, family, health or work problems. The organisation's teaching emphasises the realities of gender and age diversity but also seeks to bring an understanding of such differences and enhance an acceptance of them through seeing that they may be different but also compatible and necessary at times. Teaching also includes informing people at events, and through media communication, of global issues and what has led to them, so that they might better understand them from as Christian and humanitarian perspective. Local groups will normally meet monthly and larger events will be organised three or four times a year. Support to local churches is provided when and as it is requested.
