Public benefits
EDANI exists to provide support, information and understanding regionally to people with eating disorders as well as their families and friends. We endeavour to promote awareness amongst decision makers - whether politicians, civil servants, the voluntary sector or the general public. Our vision is that people affected by eating disorders will
have their needs met through the provision of appropriate and integrated services delivered by a range of statutory and voluntary agencies. In order to effectively treat eating disorders, health care professionals need to work together as a multi-disciplinary team both within hospital and in a community setting. We continue to encourage and support such an approach to the care of eating disorder patients. We challenge the root causes of eating disorders and try to improve the quality of life for people affected by eating disorders. We hope to achieve this by being proactive in meeting needs, by being successful in influencing government policy and by promoting understanding. EDANI supports a process of recovery, allowing the individual to develop their own strategies in order to live a fulfilling life beyond the challenges of an eating disorder.
