Public benefits

The direct benefits that flow from the Partnership’s purposes are: actions being undertaken that strive to assist those persons from the MacNean area of County Fermanagh who are experiencing negative impacts on their quality of life through poverty and / or unemployment; actions being undertaken to provide members of the local community,

particularly those who are unemployed with opportunity to avail of courses, activities and work placements that will assist them deal with the negative consequences of being unemployed and find employment; actions to maintain, improve and / or provide public amenities within the MacNean area; actions to provide recreational facilities for the general public and particularly those who by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances require such facilities; actions to preserve and refurbish Mullycovet Mill building and other structures that may exist in the local area of particular historical or architectural interest. A number of these actions provide members of MacNean Community with opportunities that improve their educational attainment, social interaction, wellbeing and conditions of life through accessing services that would not normally be available to them. Many of the actions are organized by the Partnership working with the local community, other local community organisations and linking with other Voluntary, Community and Statutory organisations such as Belcoo Community Association, Fermanagh District Council, Schools, Colleges. Benefits of the courses are evidenced by the measurement of numbers attending and collection of feedback from participants. Benefits of the actions relating to facilities, buildings and other physical infrastructure are evidenced through the construction of new facilities, enhancement of existing facilities, environmental enhancements and preservation and refurbishment of buildings. The Partnership also undertake work to promote other activities, services, grants, and advice that may benefit community members from the MacNean area in their personal, community and business lives. The only private benefit flowing from our Partnership’ purposes are that MacNean Community Partnership Directors and their immediate family members can participate in all courses, activities and avail of facilities; this is incidental and necessary to ensure that all members of the community from the MacNean area can potentially benefit. Members of the partnership and their immediate families have to enroll and engage in activities in the same manner as other members of the community. There is no harm flowing from the purposes of MacNean Community Partnership.

What your organisation does

MacNean Community Partnership is the current name of an organiastion that was previously titled Belcoo and District Development Group Limited, which was established in 1991. The Partnership represents the community within the rural MacNean area of County Fermanagh centered on the village of Belcoo. A main element of the partnership’s work has

been the securing a lease on Mullycovet Mill. This has allowed the partnership to refurbish and preserve this important element of our areas past industrial heritage for current and future generations. The partnership have also worked to provide additional facilities such as toilet block, parking, community garden, polytunnel and have the access road improved so that the building can be used as place to undertake training courses, recreational activities and as a tourist attraction. Examples of activities that have taken place at Mullycovet Mill include Dry Stone Wall building courses, Gardening courses, Educational field trips and Vintage Rallies. MacNean Community Partnership have worked with the local community and other bodies in particular Fermanagh District council to provide facilities fir recreational activities and make improvements to the physical infrastructure of Belcoo Village and the MacNean area. These have included Playpark, Outdoor Gym, Multi-use Games Area, Barbecue & Picnic Area, provision of flowerbeds and hanging baskets. MacNean Community Partnership also have worked with Belcoo Community Association and other organisations to have a range of educational, social and recreational courses and advice sessions provided locally in the MacNean area; examples being First Aid, Badminton, Keep Fit, Computer Training, Information Talks, Farmers Meetings and form filling clinics.

Charitable purposes

(a) The promotion for the public benefit of rural regeneration in the MacNean area of Fermanagh and its environs (the "area of benefit"), being an area of social and economic deprivation, by all or any of the following means: (i) The relief of poverty in such ways as may be thought fit. (ii)The relief of unemployment in such ways as may be thought fit, including assistance to fine employment; (iii)The advancement of education, training or retraining, particularly among unemployed people and providing unemployed people with work experience. (iv) The maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities. (v) The provision of recreational facilities for the public at large or those who by reason of their youth, age , infirmity or disablement, poverty or social and economic circumstances, have need of such facilities (b) Preserve and refurbish for the benefit of the public the Mullycovet building in Belcoo district and other buildings or structures that may exist in the area of benefit of particular historical or architectural interest.
