Public benefits
The public benefits flowing from the purposes of the Friends of the Roddens Care Home Ballymoney is that residents or individuals attending the Roddens for respite care are able to take advantage of a variety of interventions secured and funded by members of the charitable trust. These residents can take advantage of regular musical entertainment,
occasional bus outings for those residents able to attend, birthday and Christmas parties, appropriate craft workshops, reflexology, massage, bot-cha, arm chair aerobics, musical well being sessions and other suitable activities for the elderly. The residents benefit by being both entertained and motivated by the activities. Their mood is lifted and their feelings of isolation and loneliness are dissipated. They are encouraged to talk to other residents, members of staff and therapists. The therapy encourages them to increase physical activity therefore easing problems which can occur for people confined either to the bed or chair. The residents also benefit from gifts of televisions or associated equipment for use by themselves. The staff also benefit because the residents have activities that they can join in . The families of the residents benefit because their relations/family members are being given a range of activities that would not otherwise be provided by the statutory services within the Care Home. Everyone benefits because these activities are made available to the residents at no cost to the individuals, at no cost to the staff or to the statutory authorities. The main benefit is an improvement in the conditions of life for the beneficiaries. The benefits are measured by regular discussions with the beneficiaries, evaluation forms which are completed from time to time at the end of particular sessions, feedback is also obtained from staff members and family carers and the residents have an opportunity to suggest activities that they think they would find beneficial. A report on all activities is made available through the trustees at their AGM. There is no harm flowing any of the activities or the objects of the organisation and no private benefit except for payments to workshop providers which are necessary for the ongoing work of the group.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
Friends of the Roddens Ballymoney was established to work closely with the staff and residents of the Roddens Care Home to try and improve the daily living conditions of the residents and respite attenders of the above home. The organisation working with the staff and families help to fundraise to raise moneys which are used solely for the benefits
of the residents and respite users. The group organises musical entertainment, occasional bus outings, Christmas and birthday parties When required the trustees try and raise funds for equipment for use by the residents and respite attenders which would not otherwise available to them from the statutory authorities who manage the facility. The trustees also organise a series of appropriate workshops, recreational activities, health and well-being activities such as reflexology, arm chair aerobics or massage. The trustees also ensure that all of the money which has been donated to the trust is managed carefully and utilised solely for the inhabitants whether full time or temporary of the Care Home. We hope to supplement the facilities and equipment of the home and to foster an atmosphere of neutral support among the beneficiaries and their families.
