Public benefits
The committee members believe that the purposes satisfy both elememts of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits which flow from the purposes include uniting the people of the Newry Street community, lower levels of anti-social behaviour, improved levels of social disadvantage, improved access to services for the local community,
increasing community capacity and engagement and reducing high levels of social disadvantage. These benefits are demonstrated through government statistics on levels of deprivation, disadvantage and Anti-Social behaviour, regular evaluation of feedback from the inhabitants of the Newry Street area, feedback from service users and through community focus groups and community audits. The purpose does not lead to any harm. The charity's beneficiaries are the people living in the Newry Street area of Kilkeel, Co. Down, Northern Ireland. There is no private benefit flowing from the charities purposes.

Newry Street Unite is a grass roots, cross-community development, non-profit making community group, established by local people to address the total lack of facilities and activities accessible to people in the Newry Street area. This community based group focuses on connecting people in our community from diverse backgrounds by providing a range
of services, facilities and opportunities for people to take part in from sports, physical activities, arts, crafts and community events for people of all ages and abilities. Newry Street Unite promotes, encourages and supports volunteering in our community. Volunteers and the people in our community are able to connect with others, build new relationships, build a healthy community and create positive change.

Charitable purposes
The Association is established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Newry Street area without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to relieve poverty, advance education and to provide or assist in providing facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said inhabitants.
