Public benefits

The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is improvement of the area for all inhabitants regardless of age, sex or of political or of religious beliefs and a range of local activities available, the ongoing provision of a community space for programmes and activities for all inhabitants from the area of benefit. The direct benefit which

flows from this Purpose is also an improved quality of life where inhabitants within the area of benefit are thriving, feel valued, included and safer. Further direct benefit which flows from this purpose is the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the community centre for programmes and activities for all inhabitants from the area of benefit. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from beneficiaries, increased numbers of groups or individuals using the centre, statistics on the range of activities, ages and interest groups using the centre and government statistics or annual reports from relevant agencies. In maintaining and managing the centre there is potential harm to be aware of through failure to meet health and safety requirements, or failure to meet insurance and risk assessment requirements. However the Association will ensure the benefit outweighs any harm through proper management. We believe that this purpose will lead to no other clearly identified harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are the inhabitants of all ages of Wandsworth, Belmont, Ballyhackamore and their environs. There may be private benefits from the provision of training and support and the provision of activities taking place in the centre, but these benefits would be incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. A private benefit may arise through the use of the centre by beneficiaries for hire for private use (eg. birthday parties or other private functions) as a result of having initially used the centre for public activities. These benefits are incidental and do not deter from the wider public benefit of this purpose and indeed add to it through increased awareness of the centre.
