Public benefits

The direct benefits, which flow from our purpose, include: Reducing isolation, poverty and improving the quality of life for people living in a rural area with the delivery of services on their doorstep. Community spirit is maintained and strengthened by involving everyone in locally based activities. People’s pride is developed and increased

with the development of improved physical and social infrastructure in their community. These benefits are demonstrated through the number of user groups and individuals booking our facilities, evaluation of activities and feedback and surveys carried out. No harm will result from the purpose of our charity. The charity’s beneficiaries are the people of Gortnaghey and surrounding townlands. There is no private benefit flowing from our purpose.

What your organisation does

Our organisation exists to provide a range of services and facilities in a rural area, where no others exists. We operate a community centre for use by all other groups in our community. We provide a range of educational (computer/first aid/child protection) and recreational classes (dance/keepfit/flower arranging). We hold weekly social events

for the elderly and youth club for young people. We provide a fax/photocopying/internet service. We act as a signpost for other services and provide a free advice clinic. We provide an outdoor recreational/sporting facility for all members of our community, which consists of a play-park, walkway, 3G pitch and green space. We provide a facility for family events such as children s birthday parties, christening, communion and funeral teas. We work with other voluntary and statutory agencies to improve the range of services and activities in our community. We provide opportunities for people to get involved in volunteering. We have annual seasonal events to bring the community together.
